For a 6yo 13.2 coloured gelding, has done fun rides has hunted schooling nicely on the flat has a huge jump has been jumped over 3ft fences hacks alone and in company would look after anyone used for nannying youngsters out on the roads as nothing fazes him l would say he is a mw.Good to clip shoe load etc.

He sounds like gold dust. If you can afford the asking price - pay it. For a safe good horse that is finished, I would pay up to £5k and that would be to hack out and come home safe.

I know that sounds a lot, and of course you can buy much cheaper, but he is six years old, you obviously know him and so for a child's pony that is as good as he is, I think there would be plenty of people willing to pay a premium price to ensure their child's safety.

Twenty five years ago I paid £1000 for a 14.2 that was safe, jumped and hunted (no dressage - too lively). So if thats a guide, I hope it helps.

I'd say around £4k-£5k. He sounds fantastic!!!

Thanx for that he is mine l bought him 2 years ago for 1,000 l was just wondering as l had the saddle fitter out the other day and she really likes him and she reckoned he is worth excess of 3,500 they also use him in the riding school as he is really good with the kids and when l got him l was a nervous wreck and he has really gave me my confidence back so much so l have started lessons on him and hoping to start jumping him myself.

. My experience of dealing in ponies is that this size is darned tricky to move on. 12.2hh's and 14.2hh's no problems whatsoever....but 13.2hh's hmmm.

I would say around £1,500 - £1,750 tops....with tack and rugs.

Hmm perhaps things have changed recently then. I dealt in ponies for a couple of decades and it was always the same hence me stopping buying 13.2hh's in the end. I still knew others who dealt in ponies and they always disliked being given 13.2hh's as part exchanges....they had the same problem as me.

Would be nice if it has changed though - it would be interesting to hear from other dealers on here.
