I would be really grateful if you could help me as I am contemplating selling my mare, but have no idea about a price....

She is 16.1 hh Dark bay, well black apart from a star and a snip! she will be 7 in June. She has been jumping and getting placed in 1.15 m's in belgium, up until spring last year and I have been jumping her in disco's and 1.05's but nothing recently! She is Dutch Warmblood but very much a TB type very fine!

She is good to shoe, box, clip, farrier etc, easy to handle and very sweet and loving, however she is very sharp and very spooky so she would need a good rider, (hence why I am selling her!!) She does have a lot of jump and is well schooled, very flashy and she is bold jumping, but careful, it is just all of the other monsters every where!!

flat work wise she works nicely and and is light in the mouth, she has a brilliant canter and can lengthen and shorten just with your seat, she can do changes, lateral work etc.

So the only real downsides are, very spooky, very sharp, would need someone good to ride her and no recent competition record (not since summer!).

Sorry don't have any pics on the computer at present, will try and get some, but what do you think price wise??

Thank you in advance for your help!!!

Your best bet might be to ring up some local pro riders and ask them if they are interested in her, and what they would give you for her. Offer to email them a video of her jumping if you have one.

ETS: My reason for suggesting this instead of advertising her in the normal way is that however you word the ad you will probably get some people coming to try her who won't be able to ride one side of her which could upset her more. As long as she has talent, which it sounds like she does, a pro will probably take her on, as long as you don't set your sights too high price-wise.

i second that. or, could you afford to send her to a pro to sell? might be the best bet.
having to show her off to people, and then have muppets/joyriders having a go (real possibility unforch) might not be what you want. better to pay for a month's livery and training and get a better price with less worry and hassle, i should think.

I think you may be right!! But who is the question is who, I guess then now! Any ideas....

Thanks for the suggestions! I am not expecting any hideous amount of money, due to the sharpness!

Whereabouts are you? If you can't think of anyone off the top of your head maybe go to a show with some decent classes and just watch the riders. You'll work out pretty quickly which are the pro's and whose riding you like.

Go to a pro, I had a horrid time watching people come and try my IDx when I was selling. Even though I had stressed that he was in no way a novice ride, he was sharp, a big lad, and he woried easily, I still had muppets say that they would be suitable only for him to make them all look like prats (all bar 1 who brought him - but only after I insisted she come and ride him over a six week period). After 5 had tried I started trying to put them off as it had really upset him.

Would never go through that again.
