Just wondering how much everyone thought my cob was worth... looking at insuarance quotes and such like...
he is a touch over 14hh skewbald traditional gypsy cob, 4 years old, broken and schools reasonably, just starting to pop small cross poles, generally quite laid back but can take the p as any cheeky cob can!

Piccie last year just before being broken

Any ideas on pricing, and any other comments ( inkow his bit was a bit big, have now changed that - i also know im an awful rider but im having lessons! ... thanks

How much did you pay for him - insure him for that?

I would say about £1500 to £2000 but am not an expert in coloured cobs, could be higher.

he looks a solid sort

rising 5, a nice size, if he is good on the road out hacking, you'd be looking at 2.5 to 2.7k to replace him.

The more you say he's worth, the more it will cost to insure. My new horse is worth £5k, but I have insured him for £2k as that is the only amount I cant afford to loose if he were destroyed. He's not insured for loss of use, and to be honest that isn't what is important to me. IMO-The vets fees is the first reason for getting insurance, with 3rd party a close second, personal injury a third.
Think what you want out of the insurance first. I'm with Petplan & they have 2 prices, price paid & sum insured, they dont have to be the same.

I paid £1250 for him as a 2 year old, and he's only just 4 , so not rising 5, he is currently insured for £1500, but was wondering whether to rise it to £2000 ????
