I know you all loves these!!

How much would you expect to pay for the following....

15.2hh Bay ISH Gelding rising 9 years old.
Has show jumped to British Novice.
Due to a double movement in his fetlock can no longer jump above 1m. His condition is managed by egg bar shoes and ideally be turned out on flat, level ground.
Was turned away last winter and is now back in full work.
He has the best temprement in the world, he's more like a big dog than a horse!!
Only 'kwirk' he is very girthy, but as long as he is girthed up slowly he is fine.
He is NOT a novice ride and does need an experienced rider.
He is good to, shoe box etc, does need sedating to be clipped though. Can be hacked out alone or in company.
He will come with a full wardrobe and Devocoux bridle, brand new Bates GP saddle at extra cost.

So, thoughts of price pleeeeease

£1000 - £2000 would be reasonable as he can still jump and work but just wouldnt pass a vetting. The wadrobe alone would be worth the lower end of that thou if the saddle is new! Good luck selling him

agree, £1k if you are lucky.

is his condition likely to get worse?

Nope, it doesnt cause him any problems what so ever!
To say he cant jump over 1m isnt stricktly true, Im just over cautious plus I dont need him to jump as I have another show jumper.

If he would pass a vetting (5 stage? will the condition not get worse then, vets dont normally pass horses with any condition so they are not liable to be sued if he did go unsound, only know as studying on a vet campus atm, best friend is a vet and i have had a lot of experience working on dealers yards where lots of buying/selling occurs!) i would ask £2000 poss, thing is i am currently looking and wouldnt be prepared to spend any more money on a horse which already has a problem, especially as he would cost me more to shoe etc, sorry

.

But on the plus side all you need is for one person to fall in love if he has that real sweetheart personality and then he is worth whatever they are willing to pay for him! Also the home that he might go to might not even want to jump and may have their own land where they can guarantee turnout on a flat surface! Good luck selling him anyway

He doesnt cost me anymore to shoe him, as he only wears front shoes anyway. But then again, my farrier is Incredibly competitive with his prices!
I wouldnt let him go to a competitive home, I just want him to have a stress free life with some one who will love him as much he would love them.

Aww thats cool, good luck with selling him - at the end of the day i would ask whatever you thing he is worth (as you know him, we are just going on what we have read!) and hope someone comes along who loves him as much as you do
