How muddy are your fields after the big thaw?

Any pictures? Feel like i have too much mud and still got the rest of the winter to go!!!

Well, we've got mud, mud and more mud! Its horrible, came very close to slipping up today, i'm sure the horses were laughing at me too.

Ours are not too bad this year so far, certainly not the knee deep mess they were last year after the thaw. They have all been a bit mushy on top because of the freeze going so deep and the top thawing with nowhere for the water to escape to and I suspect the reason the mud isn't too bad is because it is still frozen underneath. The far fields with only 3 in each are a bit worse around the gates but the actual field is pretty good.

We haven't really suffered too much with the big freeze down here. The ground froze but that was it, no snow. We've just been getting rain :-( our fields aren't too bad at all, pretty muddy around gateways but all in all, still quite a lot of grass left. We still have one big field that will be fenced off at the bottom for my boy and his field mate to be able to go into should they want some nice long grass to munch :)

Looks like the Somme.

Lost Welly the other day while bringing my two in fell over and then nearly got head trampled on. Other half couldn't help for laughing.

Please summer hurry up!

Not. Just frozen solid.

Ours aren't bad at all either. However, the horses are only out for a max of 6 hours, which makes a HUGE difference.

One livery has trashed her paddock as she insists the horse is out for 6 hours even though the horse hates it so it gallops around and paces (sorry but this really annoys me) but I don't actually care as come spring her horse won't be out 24/7 :p

muddy around the gateway, and water sitting on top in patches, but still have some grass and seen it much worse. Doesn't help that Meg likes to do her circuit training mind, but considering all 3 are out 24/7 in a field grazed 365 and on clay, we will cope.

Im going to sound really smug here but I have got no mud what so ever!!!! :) Can still poo pick in my trainers, the only 'wet' part is by the gateway of the field but that only covers the soles of my boots!!! :)

Ours have gone from being totally frozen to being soggy and a bit muddy to being totally frozen again. Luckily they are in a 10 acre field thats on a slope so most of the water runs down to the burn - kinda like in field drainage so it never gets that muddy really

It`s at times like these that my purpose built turnout pens (15mx15m scalpings area each) come into their own!

They can mooch about in the fresh air and have a variety of toys/snack balls to keep them occupied. In an ideal world i`d have them out 24/7 but I keep them at home closeto the river and only have a little over two acres.

Without the pens my fields would indeed be a quag of mud soup.

Not too bad round the gate. There must have been an old building there at some time cos there are brick foundations a few inches below the surface. After that its pretty grim for a few feet but then the rest of it isnt too bad really.

ours are awful! They're on a slope, clay underneath. Gateway is awful and horses have taken to congregating round the gateway, and the fence line is horrible!
Never seen them that bad to be honest. There's a few fields being rested so hopefully the geldings will be moved into one of them :D
