So, I am feeling full of optimism and since I haven't competed R since November I thought I might as well start with a medium this Sunday - how bad could it be?

I run through the test today to get a feel, nearly died during the sitting trot but took the opportunity to recover by collapsing and having a breather during the walk, canter work next. Coming up to the right half-pass from the track to the centre line, R and I had the following conversation:

Me: Brace yourself, the half pass is coming up
R: Is that little bird giving me the evil eye?
Me: HALF PASS I say
R: Errr, what's that? Here's some going sideways for you
Me: Don't fall on the right shoulder, don't fall on the right shoulder, DON"T FALL ON THE RIGHT SHOULDER
R: Which one is the right one again?
Me: OK forget it, just concentrate on turning right now
R: Sure, happy to oblige
Me: That is LEFT
R: Are you sure? I could sweat that was right!
Me: Yes I am sure, turn right, TURN RIGHT
R: Too late
(Continues straight on, jumps the kick board and exits the arena)
Me: What are you doing????
R: Oh, THAT right! Sorry I thought you said left

Ha ha just don't do that at a show!! I went through M73 last night, well tried to had to dodge some kid that decided to stop on the track to put its rug back on the pony along with mum and baby sister standing int he way then walking straight infront of me! Someone else came long and put their rug on the fence which then caused major slamming on of brakes and spinning! She did offer to move it but Molly must learn!! Not feeling too confident for sunday now I must say - good luck to you!

snort......my problem is the ceasing to go sideways....HP right is fab....it swings, it crosses, it bends....going left we take 5/6 strides to establish which kind of sideways i require and then once we get going we keep going until the fence ping pongs us back t'other way!!!!

Hehe!!!
Don't worry, I marked out a small arena in our 20x60 school to practise a novice test and we managed to keep falling out of it too. Far too cramped for our current style! I mean, it takes one spook and we have then exited the arena!!

Haha excellent, bad dress rehearsal and all that! Brings back memories of my lovely-but-no-dressage-loving-grey:
me: into the corner, half-halt, shoulder-in, wait, relax, listen...
Doris: okaaay
me: half-pass right
D: CANTER!!! You said canter. I know you did! Wooohooo!
Me: noooo, trot, steady, breathe, half-pass...
D: Canter. Yes. Okay, off we go.
Me: Nooooooo, wait, breathe...
D: Argh, you corrected me, twice! How very dare you! I'm going to bounce up and down on the spot to show the judges how bouncy i am!
Me: errr, okay, can we just trot then? In a minute? If you don't mind... *sickly grin at judges*
