Hi,
Ive had my sec D foal about a month now, and on tuesday he got cast in his stable.
He is on part livery and the YO managed to get him up - he wee'd straight away and we guess he had been there a while - luckily he didnt struggle.
We had the vet and he had some anti Inflam & Pain relief, because his stifle upper leg was HUGE!!!!! now due to the pressure his skin cracked and today the skin has come away from the flesh (obviously dead from the amount of swelling)
so we are now left with a fist sized area below his stifle that is just neat flesh - and of course im worried about infection/scarring. Any suggestions what to use ? I was looking at camrosa but read too many bad reviews.
Of course i have all the usual First aid stuff, and the vet said to keep it clean and thats about it. I might get some Vit E oil for when its re-growing, currently it is still pink, fleshy and a bit bloody. but its on his joint so difficult to know what to put on - dose it need to dry out, or keep it supple?
Hes been a very good foal, i think he was very very sore though , a few times he has been laid down and we have had to help him back up again, his back is really sore! along with his leg so when he lays on one side he cant get himself up
We were looking forward to showing him this winter but looks like we will have to wait.
