Completed my last exam yesterday so I have a nice long holiday until uni in September. Thought it would be nice to crack on with my mare who hasnt really done as much as she should have so decided to jump her this morning in the arena.
Set up a few little exercises nothing big (think 23 26 max which is tiny for L) and all was going well until we came into one fence, L hesitated, I put my leg on, L obliged and jumped but jumped massive. When she decides to jump massive she has plenty of scope to play with
Landed from massive jump slightly out of the saddle to the left. L has a huge canter stride so we were soon at the end of the arena, cantering unbalanced around the short side, she turned to head back down the other long side and by this time I had no chance of surviving and was shot head first into the arena
I stayed on the ground for a moment because it hurt like hell and poor Lacey came trotting over to check I was ok. Got up, mouthful of sand and back on. I now have a headache on its way, a badly bruised and grazed knee and my left hip (which has always been dodgy) is painful.
And to top it off not long after getting home my driving instructor turned up 2 ½ hours early for my lesson and I was still in my sand covered jodhpurs with sand particles all over me. Not nice!
I hope the holidays start to improve
