Question in itself really....
How often do you clip?

My fully clipped NF is looking like he's going to need doing again, but its only been 3 weeks  ....and at £40 a time I really can't afford it :(

Mine quite regularly she doesn't grow a lot of coat ie long but it's very dense like velvet and at this time of year always grows quite quickly I did her 4weeks ago and she already needs doing when the temperature drops her clipped coat doesn't seem to grow as much ...

I have two hunters at livery with me and I clip them once a week. It's a twenty minute job if you do it so regularly and keeps them looking really smart all season. Did them both today for the fourth time.

Everything else gets clipped as and when it's needed. Generally every three weeks or so to keep them looking smart. This includes a couple of eventers, a dressage horse, a children's pony, my own horses, and several "happy hackers".

Mine usually only needs doing twice although sometimes I take just all off in the spring to avoid the dreaded mault!

I always find that being well rugged helps slow down the regrowth!

Well my cob is about to be clipped for the 4th time since the beginning of sept!!! He hunts twice a week and in autumn his coat turns yak like within a couple of weeks, and then sweats up.

Once the clocks change his coat growth tends to slow down, so plan to clip before OM next week, then before Boxing day, then probably once more before the end of the season.

Thank god he is good to clip!!!!!

As little as I can! I'm of the brigade that adds another rug each time I clip, so don't want them too piled up with rugs.

I usually clip once in November (although had to bring it forward a couple of weeks this year) when coats are mostly through, then again at Xmas, and again end of Feb.

I have clipped four and all will need doing again soon as they have to much colour in their coats for their winter coats to be fully through.
I expect to do them again in three weeks.

The number of times a horse is clipped in a season depends on how much coat they grow.

I clip mine myself, trying to get away with a "re-do" every 6 weeks however we are 4 weeks gone and starting to look very fluffy again... Doh!

Haven't clipped yet and both my boys are still in lightweights/ unrugged.

Going to clip one next weekend though and the other in 2/3 weeks. I only like to clip twice a year and have not had to do more previously.
