Just wondering cos it looks to me like i have a show every Sunday until May! Then i'll have to find a few to do during the Summer before they are back on every week in September!

Sorry was not very specific in my post - shows i have every week are either Trailblazers or BSJA!

I have hardly any in the Summer

How come you have so many over the winter, but so few in the summer !? I know Duckhurst don't run anything in the summer, but there's always something on in the area

just curious - but those of you who compete more than once a week do you have full time jobs aswell and how on earth do you afford all the running costs/entry fees etc??!! i hardly have time to breathe what with my job and two horses let alone competing more than once a week!

Both mine have lessons once a week and Bloss competes most weekends whether its with me or her sharer.

i was competing her every weekend but im cooling her off a bit as shes going into foal in april next year. By then Archie will be in full competing mode so il be taking him out as much as my bank balance can stand!

Probably 2 - 3 times a month. I would go out every weekend but at the mo we are being select with venues. We do stressage and SJ

Yer mainly because Duckhurst don't run Summer shows like they used to!

Also can't go to Cobham to compete for various reasons so that rules that out (unfortunately as that is the next closest place!), have competed at unaffiliated shows at Blue Barn in the Summer but was put off as they did not change the striding in the double for horses and ponies although i have not tried a BSJA show in the Summer there so that might be one to think about. Golden Cross is miles away and i've never been to Limes Farm! Are there any more i don't know about that are not too far from Staplehurst?

Hmmmm...well, if you want BSJA and won't travel far from Staplehurst then I guess your doomed

We travel anything from 45 minutes (GC is our closest venue) to 2 hours+ to compete. Blue Barn used to have very good outdoor BSJA when the Drapers were there...i'm less sure now what they run though. We also go to some one-off summer shows such as Bexhill Horse Show. There is also Quex Park 2 day show at Margate, Edenbridge & Oxted, BSJA Area 46 3 day show at Ardingly, Pyecombe 4 day show, South of England show, Kent County, Felbridge have plenty of summer shows as do GC and Crockstead. You've got Hickstead too if you feel wealthy....hmmm....ever considered moving a few miles further west lol!

We are for the Summer really i guess could give Blue Barn Seniors show a try and see what thats like. If not Limes Farm is probably the next closest and i don't even know if they have shows during the Summer! Um i don't quite think we're good enough for the Kent County Show it starts at like 1.20m

cos i looked into that this year! Felbridge and Crockstead you say.... never heard of those will see if they have a website!

We have to travel quite far to get to shows all the time. Dont think anything is less than an hours drive for us.

You should start travelling a bit further out, some of the other show centres are really nice and well worth the extra miles.

I think we are very lucky Duckhurst is just around the corner! Think if i want to keep Blue competing this Summer we are going to have to travel though.

(Am also a bit reluctant to travel to other places as i've only really competed at Duckhurst for the past 8/9 years and so know everyone there!

Guess i'm more likely to meet up with some of you guys if i travel a bit further!

Yep there are quite a few of us locals on here that are always out and about. I seem to always miss them though (think they hear i am coming and change venues ha ha).

Winter- it probably averages out to twice a month although January and February the weather is normally so bad up here that we don't get out at all.

Summer- most weekends I'll have something on.

Eventing I compete on average 2/3 times a month but I do not tend to run my horse in July/August so do some BSJA and have a holiday for me instead but usually come September I event once a week as tends to be a lot locally. I work full time but work Saturdays so get a day off in the week which I tend to compete on.
Wish there was more mid week BSJA around me as driving me mad how many people there are at weekends. Guess I will be doing some dressage once I can get the canter right.

about 2/3 times a month in summer, having a bit of a break at the moment, helps bank balance and rest for me and horse. Will start again soon probably 1/2 times a month sj and dressage ready for BE in spring. Won't start BE till april/may when weather is better!
