haven't for years but don't want to answer the poll in case I tempt fate haha! but I do only hack now on my old mare, so once I've backed my youngster next year, I'm sure this will increase haha

it depends what im doing- i havent fallen off doing anything sensible for about 4 years- though i have fallen off once so far backing my youngster and if vaulting over/missing a vault on my games pony counts then its about once a month- though when you dont start on the pony im not sure it counts! :p

I have only fallen off once in the last ten years, but I don't get up to anything too adventurous these days. I used to fall off regularly as a kid/teen and it never really bothered me, but if I was to fall off regularly now I'd give up!

As someone said above, I don't want to tempt fate.... have fallen off twice in the last 18 years, and that was because of a rodeo display I wasn't expecting.

I've only fallen off my boy once in 7 years during gridwork when he jumped the last jump and the placing pole in one go catapulting me out of the saddle. I don't jump much - add a jump in and the likelihood of a fall is much higher imo. He is very spooky though spins and takes off and bucks when excited but so far managed to stay on.

I try to make sure I keep the odds of staying on stacked in my favour and have a strong self-preservation instinct but actually the fact I haven't fallen for so long has made me a bit more nervous as I think my luck must run out soon :o

I used to get called superglue bum when I was younger but as soon as my parents came to watch me I would have a fall. I have had Drum 10 years and had maybe 5 falls from him, the last at a hunter trial last year which was my first in about 5 years, he said no to a scary fence I gave a kick and said yes you can bless his socks he put in a sideways flyer, cleared fence and snapped the flag but I went boing, the one before that was another ht when he said nope then leaped from a stand still. I should learn really, bless his honesty. I would have no doubt stayed on of no one was around but if people come to watch I mess up in one way or another. I have a 2 year old now so sure I will make up for the years without one when it comes time to ride him.

I have no idea how to set up one of these polls, but I would love to know what percentage of these falls involve the horse landing in a heap on the ground too. I fall off once every three months or so, and on average the horse joins me on the ground for one in three of these. Is this normal?

hadnt fallen in about 2 years or so then i sat on the beast fro the first time in 5 months and he was walking around quietly then bam i was on the floor i only lasted about 30 secs hahai dont know where it came from but he lept in the air whiped round and then took off rodeoing haha :o hes such a git!

I wouldn't class that as falling off, which is what this thread is about ;)

I hadn't fallen off for a few years then I fell off twice last season, off the same pony. First time she went over backwards, second time she galloped into the back of another pony...she has no self preservation!

I very nearly fell off today! It is still too wet for grass chukkas so we played in the arena, first time my girls have been in an arena, and they were all very sharp! At one point someone stopped right in front of me, and my mare immediately stopped and turned and I nearly went out the side door!

I hadn't fallen off for almost two years... Then i fell off and fractured my back, was in hospital for two days and couldn't walk for three days (agony if i tried) -.- No riding for three months.. only one left, woooooo!!

I've fallen off I think 5 times in the last 3 years (but I'm not too sure :o ) though I've a nagging feeling I've fallen off recently, but honestly couldn't say if I had or hadn't (worrying?)

*touch wood I'll stay in the saddle*

Generally I like to stay on board (perhaps because I don't do enough things that warrant falls!) but two of my falls left me worse for wear, once with a rather purple and very sore shoulder before my exams and the other with a banjaxed ankle.

Maybe 4 years ago I clocked up 2 falls in two weeks, that's the quickest succession of falls I've had, thankfully.

Mine are like buses. None for ages then a load at once. It's been a couple of years then I came off twice at one competition a few weeks ago.
