I went to see the chiropractor tonight for the first time in nearly fifteen years as I was fairly sure that I'd twisted my pelvis when I fell off a few weeks ago.

It made me realise that we spend a small fortune on getting our horses done and very rarely sort ourselves out. The chiro said that if I'd carried on not getting my back done I was going to be storing up serious problems for the future.

She's recommended that I now have a check up every time I have my horse done so that we are both balanced at the same time.

Thought I'd share :)

I have NEVER had my back done , i really should because im sure there is somthing up with it. I agree that we should get ourselves checked more, there is no point in spending all that money for the horses to be supple, balanced ect if were not....food for thought i think

I normally have mine done when my horse has hers done!! The chiro that does the yard does all the staff for free so we both get straightened out!

Yes she is right, I've realised that my right hip over the years has gotten worse. I was hit by a car (slow speed) my fault as I walked out in front of it cars in front had halted at junction (14 at the time so head not in gear). I've had trouble with my back over many years, but it's only this year because it's been so bad, I've noticed that the muscles on my rightside are always tense, even when I try and relax or lie on my back in bed, so spend most on leftside or right, each not comfortable.:(:(:(:(

Once every 6 months but I have been having intensive physio since suffering whiplash in a fall about 2 years ago. My pelvis is ok now but my neck is still bothersome :(.

When I couldn't move over Christmas I went to an oesteopath - who also does horses - took three sessions but she said riding was good for the sort of problem I had and touch wood have been ok since then!

I get mine done every few months or whenever I feel that my pelvis is going seriously wonky. Just had it done and my riding has improved like it always does afterwards - yay :D

Once in my life!

I was wonky and my horse was, don't know who threw who out...but my horse gets it done every year, I havn't bothered to do mine, even though every time I lie on my back my lower back kind of stretches out with a clunk. I scares the living daylights out of my mum, but I am used to it!

Never. :s

Mainly because I can predict how screwed it will be and don't want the whole 'Horse riding is bad for you' speech that you hear day in day out from anyone medical!

I have been considering getting McTimoney'd at some point as my hips and lower back play me up when I'm doing loads of fast work up and out of the saddle - mainly during the hunting season. At 20....I'm guessing that's not great!

Thats why I went for a McTimoney chiropractor who also has a horse and treats horses. She understood what I wanted and that there was no point in giving me a lecture. Did suggest that I took up knitting though!

Well i went to physio for a bit(hospital made me as fractured my back and ruptured two discs) but not been since. I can tell im very broken atm, but probably not as much as my horse! I should probably sort out going to someone to get something done but not sure who to go to, what treatment is best etc! Doctor says i need it all :P! Am also only 20, so should probably do something about it!

Not nearly often enough, I haven't been for well over a year which is pretty daft as I know I have a 'stuck' facet bone between my ribs and my hips are feeling a bit locked. Ho hum, when you have horses there is always something else to spend the money on.

Chiro every 12 weeks. Back/legs massage every 6 weeks. Pilates 2-3x a week.

Between them, they keep my back sound (touch wood). Stopping jumping helped of course...

I never have but i really should. I had quite a bad fall october ish last year where i got shoved into the side of a arena. i couldn't bend down or even sit down without it being really painful for 2 weeks and was having painkillers for like 3-4 weeks. i am only 18 as well and i dont want it to be a problem later with riding. also i am prob really wonky in my back after all the falls i've had :P
Thing is who do i ring/ go to? i have no idea. chiro/ osteo, physio? alsomy knee is really weak and sometimes painful after my horse stood on it a couple a years ago, is there anyone who will sort that out as well?

I've never had mine done as never felt the need to, don't ever really feel soreness or tightness in my back so not bothered, Only once have I ever had real back pain, which ironically was from sleeping very strangely, 3 days of rest and it was right as rein but I did nearly go to see someone then as couldn't move.

I've never had mine done. I need to though! I keep feeling like I'm making my horse crooked, although maybe he's making me crooked?! He gets seen about every 6 months or more frequently if I feel he needs it.

I get mine done every 2-3 months when the horses get done. The first time I got my back seen to the guy found that I had similar problems to the horse! Her left side was tight - and so was mine. We dont know if I cause her pain or she caused mine, but it was interesting!! Vastly improved our riding after that so have the visits regularly!
