How often do you give a full new bed?

I use wood pellets and if memory serves, they suggest you give a completely fresh bed every now and then.
Just wonder how many people totally strip their stables and put brand new bedding in, and if so, how often?

I did a spring clean of my stable this morning, lifting mats/sweeping the manky bedding out from underneath, putting a bit of jeyes fluid down and being fussy then topping up with lots of fresh bedding.
But once a year (usually in summer) I strip the bed/keep the best of the bedding, empty the mats out and hose/disinfect everything down.
Just curious what other people do

Me too! Ive had to take some out due to useing cardborad which it didnt work! People at yard thinks its disgust keeping a bed down for that long!! They are not the ones whos paying for the bedding!!
 
At my last yard I never took the whole bed out as it was only small and very clean. New stables he is deep littered as the rubber matting I got seemed to be holding the pee so smelt a lot. When summer rolls around it will be completely dug out mats and floors disinfected (possibly powerhosed!), rafters swept of cobwebs, etc. I will decide then whether to keep rubber matting as he is very wet and deep littering is hard work with him!
 
I use mats and wood pellets. I let the bed get down every now and then and top up with fresh.

3/4 times a year I do a mini clean where I lift each mat individually and clean underneath and twice a year I do a proper muck out (jeyes mats out etc).

I'm lucky my two are really clean and don't take much mucking out.
 
I tend to just run the bed down before turning out 24/7 and either completely muck out or stack clean bedding in the corner (depending on how manky it is) and then clean under mats etc

btw, its not a good idea to use Jeyes on Rubber matting as it rots them and makes them slippy ;o)
 
Not very often. I semi-deep litter on wood pellets and shavings - about once a week I'll do a proper dig out, remove all the wet from underneath, put the old (but still clean) bedding down on the bottom, along with another bag or two of wood pellets and then put a fresh bale of shavings in on top, as I like my beds deeper than I can achieve with wood pellets alone.

But I must confess, I rarely take all the bedding out and start again!
 
erm.....never.mine are on mats and shavings so not deep beds and all the wet comes out every day anyway.the only bed that gets taken up and put down fresh is the spare box used for schooling liveries.
 
I have a deep bed and take the poo's out everyday and the wet out 1x a week. I just cant help myself! When the horses go out for summer I will spring clean my stable, chuck out the bed and just leave the rubber matting down with maybe a sprinkle of shavings if my horse comes in for a bit during the day x
 
I bed on thin rubber matting and approx 6inches shavings, i muck out daily throwing all the shavings up the walls and leave the bed up to air so all poo and wet shavings removed daily.

Once he is out for summer i will remove all shavings and power wash and discenfect whole stable, we only need minimal shavings for through the summer, he is only in night before big competitions. Depending on how dirty stable is it will most likely be powerwashed again before the following winter.
 
I don't. However, I am very strict in that the new stuff goes in the same (cleanest) place every time and the older stuff gets rotated round so it ends up on the wee spot and gets dug out and dumped. This is a wood pellet bed.

I operate the same principal on the shavings bed too, and it is always lovely and clean looking. I'm a bit anal that way sadly...
