How often do you hack?

Probably each horse hacks twice a week, more in summer, three times each as I hack most nights after work then. I find it dull if its road work as most of my hacking is, but I like going round the fields in the summer , or boxing up for a long hack for fitness somewhere different. The older horses jump so so much better when they don't spend so much time in the school.
If its road work I con a livery to come with me so I can chat or have one ear with my iPod in to keep me amused.

In the summer a few times a week.

In the winter, practically never. No light during the week, so school under floodlights. Lesson one day of the weekend at my instructor's yard, then prep for lesson or competition the other weekend day. Also our yard has a pheasant/partridge shoot on the farm so during the season you are taking your life in your hands hacking out if the pheasants don't spook you off by flying up between the horse's legs then you are likely to get shot at by a drunk elderly old man with a gun!

I am lucky though as I am very near Salisbury Plain so planning to box him up soon and drive the 10 mins to the edge of the Plain for a lovely canter round the big open spaces :)

Everyday as no arena. Quite happy to go out after dark. Have fabulous and very varied hilly hacking though including lots of 'off-piste' stuff which is great for the young ones/ making life more interesting.

3 or 4 times a week is the norm, every day if I feel like it, a little less if really need to concentrate on something in the school.

I love hacking, we don't have bridleways in NI but I do box over to the beach and local forest tracks that allow horses, can't beat a good blast up the beach

I generally hack my event we every other or every two days, both him and me get fed up of going in the school all the time. I tend not to do the same thing with him two days in a row, he seems to work really well then when we do school :)

I try to get them each out once a week, but the hacking here is on roads and quite boring. I vary the work by taking them each around the gallops too.

My 5 year old goes sour in the school if he is in there twice in a row so I try and do one day school, one day hack etc.
I do the same with all my horses but under less pressure with the tb as she will quite happily school several days in a row.

In the summer 2-3 times a week, but in winter once a week if I'm lucky. Or not - I don't particularly enjoy hacking on the whole but I know it needs to be done.

I work full time and so can only ride in the dark midweek in winter, and I usually have a lesson on a weekend, or am competing at weekends. I try to hack on the day I'm not having a lesson/competing, but sometimes I prefer to do a bit of prep for competition. Horse is a bit of a kn*b to hack out sometimes (seems to expect imminent death from all quarters), so I have to be in the right frame of mind for it. He's getting better and better though, so hopefully age is improving his mentality. There have been quite a few rides lately where I've really enjoyed it, so he must be getting better :D
