Hi,

I try and ride 4/5 days a week (at most) due to work commitments and atm the weather. lol I try and have a lesson every other week, school and lots of hacking. I ride for between 1hr and 3hrs a time - If i school its normally for about 30mins tho.

How often do you ride your horses and how long?

And what do you do with them?

I often feel I dont do enough to try and keep her fit and the weight off. Lottie is a section D and weight is a BIG issue all year round.

Normally (i.e when horse is sound and happy) I ride 5-6 days a week (6 in summer, 5 in winter, if i'm lucky 7 in holidays)
I do about 3 or 4 schooling sessions a week for about 45 mins-1hr 15 mins and a hack of about 1 1/2 hrs then sometimes a jumping session or another hack. One of those days is substiuted each week for lunging..
Looking at that it seems quite a lot to stil have a fat horse at the end of it!!! I sypmathise with you, she's a section d cross-must be the breed!

At the moment about 3/4 yimes a week, but this week all the wind and rain and my dodgy back has meant I have only managed 2 x this week which is pretty poor for my standards!

I ride 3 to 4 times a week, usually a mix of schooling, jumping hacking. My sharer rides usually 3 times a week doing similar activities.

I try to ride 6 days a week - and try and follow a routine of 3 days schooling (1 x lunge 30 mins, 1 x schooling 45-1hr and 1 20mins school followed by short hack out), 2 jumping sessions (usually 30mins but only cos I like to end on a good note and darent risk doing it again

) and 1 hack (around 1-2hrs). I usually compete once a week so may vary routine a bit to do more or less jumping depending on whether we're competing dressage or jumping but always try and get a hack in

I have trouble keeping weight off my irish fat thing too so try and do lots of canter work and not to give into her pleading-I-am-so-starving-looks

I ride 6-7 days a week. We dont really like schooling.Poppy is 23 so not really to bothered. We were jumping untill the end of the summer when i found out she was losing her eye sight so we stop jumping now. Which is a shame cause she really enjoy's her self.
We hack between half hour to 3 hours. We try to get down beach as much as we can for a good gallop when tide is right.
We ride what ever the weather.

I ride 4 or 5 times a week. This usually involves 1 lesson and 1 schooling session, these last between 20 and 30 minutes. The rest is hacking which can be anything between 30 minutes and 2 hours.

6 days a week, usually with a comp/hunt/outing once a week. depends on the weather and if the arena is flooded

JBJ - My bl**dy mare, who I love dearly, is constantly starving. lol I will try to do more canter work with her too.

Thanks for all your comments and advice.

Indianas Mum - How is Indi and do you still have Rollo? I cant remember if your Mum was selling him or not a few months ago?

I ride every day a week. Pip gets ridden most days, as does Ginga. Pip has one trot schooling session, one canter and one extension/cellection and one day hacking or jumping. He drives at the weekend. He has a driven one day event once a month and in the summer 3 DE's. He is a welsh,tb hackney X. Ginga has one days schooling, and one jumping or hacking and one off. He is a welsharab X. He is not competeing at the moment due to time, but has the odd long distance. The other boys all get schooled about 2/4 days, and a different 2 of them have a one day event a month. In march they will do a 1De as a team, then do the 3DE season all 5 of them in a team with a travelling spare.

my daughter and I share our pony. She is ridden 6 days a week for around 45 mins a session & we work out who is doing which days on a weekly basis

I normally try to ride every day but in reality my horse gets worked 5/6 days a week. I lunge him the other 1/2 days, so he some kind of exercise every day.

I work full time so have to fit riding / lunging in around that. I've been getting up really early and riding before work but now it isn't light until about 7.30am so it's getting a bit difficult!

Roll on the longer days!

I ride 1 or 2 a week max! LOL!!! but thats because theres a 80 mile distance between me and my horse!!! she gets ridden about 4/5 times a week (i think) at the mo! Used to ride her 6 times a week though.

At the moment mine are getting 2/3 nights in the week each and then both days at a weekend usually competing.

But in the summer they get ridden about 6 times a week, to keep their weight down!

Depends on work and sometimes weather, I like to ride about 3 times a week, sometimes in the summer it can be 4 days in a row, my rides vary from half hour to 4 hours, nothing written in stone, it's supposed to be my leisure time so depends on how I feel, havent ridden in over 7 days which is a long gap for me as his lordship has a sore hip, according to back lady.

As I have two I am usually riding every day. But now that Spider is on box rest im riding 4-5 times a week as am trying to give Dexter a few more days off now over winter as he will not have a few weeks off stupid TB!!

I ride Breeze four times a week usually, 2 schooling, one jumping and on long 1 hour and a 1/2 hack.
This week tho' i have only ridden her twice due to the weather, riding her tonight though.
I then ride most days at the RS other peoples horses or Misty..
