I was just curious on how often and when you ride in the winter? I havent had a horse through the winter yet, maybe when I was 4/5 but dont remember anything 10years on..
Do you hack, school, etc?

Once the clocks go back, Mon-Friday I am limited the school.

I roughly aim for 2 x ridden sessions and then a mixture of long lining, in-hand and liberty work to break things up and keep it varied.

Weekends, I would hack to make the most of the daylight! :D

Do-able for me, as we have a flood lit school - I couldn't do it otherwise.

:O I was going to post a thread with exactly the same title! I'm moving to my own place in a month and will only have option of hacking or sectioned off bit of flat paddock for schooling and was wandering what to do when it is icy as the grass will be slippy and get trashed when it is wet!

I actually think I ride more in winter as my horse gets really bothered by flies and heat, and has to be washed off so much. I also find it easier to get them fit in winter as they're not so full of grass!

I live in a very hilly area, so if it is snowy or icy I don't ride - not worth them slipping and damaging themselves..

I don't have a school, but have two friends with schools I can use nearby. TBH I do most of my schooling on hacks.
