Following on from the lack/loss of confidence thread, how often do you ride?
Every day, once or twice a week or just every now and then.
If not riding or riding infrequently, why?
I have a loss of confidence from being thrown 9 years ago and badly hurting my back. Then having to listen to constant snide remarks about ' people who don't do dressage can't ride' from stupid ignorant people just because I prefer to hack.
I have actually been told by others that I have a very good seat.
These combined really knocked my confidence and I find myself making all sorts of excuses not to ride. I could ride the Fjord who is 19 and the most bombproof horse I've ever known, or the grey KWPN mare who was actually bought for me as a 7 year old. She was a nightmare to hack out for the first 9 months as she was mostly ridden in an arena and was frightened of everything but we perserved and now she'll look and maybe side step but other than that she's great. So no real excuse.
I actually rode her last night and wondered why I didn't do this more often. I've made myself a promise to ride as often as I can. Planning on going out on a hack tomorrow evening and Sunday morning.
Contrasting to this is my 18 yr old daughter who is currently riding up to 7 horses a day! Oh to be young and not so fragile.
