Following on from the lack/loss of confidence thread, how often do you ride?
Every day, once or twice a week or just every now and then.
If not riding or riding infrequently, why?

I have a loss of confidence from being thrown 9 years ago and badly hurting my back. Then having to listen to constant snide remarks about ' people who don't do dressage can't ride' from stupid ignorant people just because I prefer to hack.
I have actually been told by others that I have a very good seat.
These combined really knocked my confidence and I find myself making all sorts of excuses not to ride. I could ride the Fjord who is 19 and the most bombproof horse I've ever known, or the grey KWPN mare who was actually bought for me as a 7 year old. She was a nightmare to hack out for the first 9 months as she was mostly ridden in an arena and was frightened of everything but we perserved and now she'll look and maybe side step but other than that she's great. So no real excuse.

I actually rode her last night and wondered why I didn't do this more often. I've made myself a promise to ride as often as I can. Planning on going out on a hack tomorrow evening and Sunday morning.

Contrasting to this is my 18 yr old daughter who is currently riding up to 7 horses a day! Oh to be young and not so fragile. :o

i probably only ride once or twice a week at the moment, and only hacking out as i have a 7 month old baby, hubby works long hours, and the school at our yard is unusable unless you want tendon injuries or half a leg to get pulled off!

people say my horse is wasted, but she doesn't seem that worried, she was sunbathing in the field this morning :)

Normally Once maybe twice a day depending on if i ride both, who's going to what show.
Depends what else is going on, sometimes i'll only ride once or
Twice a week.

Used to ride between 5 and 8 a day earlier in the year when i worked for a sjer.

I ride my lad at least 5 times a week and thats a mixture of hacking, schooling and jumping. I suffer with low confidence and I find riding regularly helps to keep my demons at bay somewhat!

I ride 6 times a week during the summer, but daylight hours restricts me during winter to once or twice a week, and thats subject to weather. will occasionally hire an indoor school if I really cant hack out due to weather conditions.

I ride about 5/6 days a week- i only have one horse and then sometimes my mums to keep going but they dont need as much. im working up the levels of dressage and hopefully will get the mares first medium debut aug/sept.. its hard work as i work all day full time but its so great to see the progression.
the mares a nightmare to hack alone and im not so keen on the hacking where i am as there are roads and lots of gates. we lucky enough have a hay feild just of the yard to go round which i am perservering with but still not alone... i love hacking so will look forward to the day il be able to take her out round the hay feild just me an her...

i got her as a 5 yr old and realy had to ride her so often because if i didnt i would feel the wrath of it the following day.. work kept the mare sane and she has improved so much in trusting me rather than spooking at every little thing..

I ride my mare about 6 times a week, lunge once (on average) - that's a mix of schooling and hacking, soon adding in jumping. She needs to do something every day or turns into a complete nutcase - unfortunately she's having to have a week off due to being freezemarked and has turned into a dragon! Bitten me twice, turned bargy, gone grumpy, bouncing round on two legs and spends her days running round and round the field in an effort to exercise herself - counting down the days til Saturday, may try riding her tomorrow if she seems happy with the saddle on - gulp!

I'm currently working on bringing my friends beautiful chestnut TB mare back into work with a view to loaning her. We ride both days at weekends and try to fit in atleast couple of evenings too. The evenings have made all the difference with Tigger, Monday night we had our first hack around the field which was brill :-) I too lack confidence in my riding ability but since riding with my friend she has really helped me and I'm lucky enough to be able to ride her other 2 Ex-Racers as well :-) We dont have many facilities but we make do and enjoy what we have!!
Dont listen to other peoples nasty remarks, as long as you and your horse are happy thats what counts :-)

I usually ride a minimum of 4 times a week ideally 5 times but last week I exercised 6 times (5 ride 1 lunge) and am trying to do the same this week as I am going to be restricted to 3 times a week over the next 2 weeks and I want my good doer in the best possible condition so it won't hurt if he puts on a little bit of weight!

About 1-2 times a day depending on what I'm doing with both of mine. I mix it up a bit by lungeing/ long-reining one of them in the morning and riding one at night, or ride both, or vice versa. Depends on what I think they need doing.

Between 2-4 times a day, 6 days a week. Try to have one day a week off but sometimes it doesn't happen. 2 of them are my own, one full livery and I ride a couple of others weekly.

I ride everyday (it can be anywhere between 1 and 4 but on average it's usually 2-3 per day) Got two horses of my own to work and I'm a freelance Groom/Rider so lots of riding for me! I try to ride mum's ISH at least twice per week and she rides him 1-2 times per week too and my Appy is currently being ridden 3-4 times per week (just hacking out steadily at the moment as is he having a chilled out summer before cubbing begins - then I will have to up the work and increase the fitness again!)

I ride normally 4-5 days a week and lunge 1. Come winter I ride less as I tend to be a fair weather rider as does my pony! She lives out and with no shelter to dry off or tack/untack then heavy rain is a no no.

I generally ride at least 5 times per week. Sometimes lunge one day and he usually has one day off. Although this week he's been ridden everyday as I'm enjoying the evening hacks way too much but as he loves them too he doesn't put up any resistance

I have two at home so the aim will be both 5/6 days a week but in reality one does more than the other and with bad weather/riding other peoples etc my own might only get 4 days a week and a day or two lunging. But as I only have a paddock to ride in weather is my main battle.

Depends on work but I try to ride 2-4 times a week. However horse is normally ridden 4 times a week by someone as we share him xx

I think as you get older you do get less confidence even if you haven't had a fall. I used to ride anything and usually the nutters everyone else was scared to ride. I rode my horse at Christmas time for the first time in about 6 years (she had been on loan and was going back on loan and I thought I better ride her before they came) I wasnt nervous at all even though she is a jumpy tbx. Just bought our new ponies and I felt quite nervous getting on the 14 hh one. Maybe because it was bare back and I bought her un seen lol. I think I will feel better with a saddle but I used to ride bare back in a head collar every day on big id
