How often do you shoe your horses??

every 40 to 50 days and costs 60 euros for front shoeing and hind trimming. All of mine are retired and are out at grass every day.

6 weeks, £60 for refit, £65 new set

If I wasnt on livery and organised when he was done more myself I might have him done five weeks as he does grow fast

Strictly every six weeks max (sometimes five, but never, ever more than six) - £75 a full set, I think.

My farrier actually does keep her sound though, so that's fine by me. We left it seven weeks a couple of months ago and she went rather lame... expensive, demanding beast!

Every 6 weeks, as arranged by my YO, as I might let them go 7-8 weeks, but she won't. He's here tomorrow in fact!
Full set £55 (YO)
Fronts only £25 (my Mols)
Trim all round £15 (the ol' lass)

My New Forester goes 8 weeks but she is only trimmed, cost £20

My other 4 it depends on what competitions (Endurance)I am doing. During the season every 3-4 weeks as they wear their shoes down. During the off season 6 weeks.

I would never go longer than 6 weeks with my shod horses.

Shod horses £62 which includes road studs/ pins

5-6 weeks and pay £60 a set. I am really fussy about my horses feet, and it amazes me how long people will go between shoeings. Even with good quality feet, leaving it that long will cause inbalance in the feet and mean there is additional pressure being put on the structures in the legs. I know people who used to leave them 12 weeks, and have had problems with tendon and ligament damage since. False economy!!

Used to be every 6 weeks, then every 5, now the farrier says every 4!

Over the past 6 months her feet have gone downhill and I don't know why: :( ?????????

£55 a set with road studs. I only pay every other visit though (share with owner)

Oh dear!! I have mine done every 4 weeks in the hunting season which is plenty enough. £75 a set.

I would much rather have them done a week early than a week too late, take a day off work to go hunting and lose a shoe and have to come home!!

Every 7-8 weeks. I pay 60€ for a full set, including road nails for Vinnie, Lucy has aluminium heart bars, which are more expensive, but she has fronts only. She is 40€ if I have the same shoes put back on (they seem to last ages!) and backs trimmed or 20€ more for new set (including road nails).

Every 6-7 weeks. £60 a set, with trailers on the back. Free refits when horse has lost a shoe.
£35 for just fronts at the moment, due to continual shoe loss!
