How often do you shoe your horses??

I don't often feel sorry for farriers, but I do when they are asked to keep shoes on for longer and longer intervals. The only way they can do so is by compromising hoof health in one way or another.

Farriers - next time a client judges you by if you can keep a shoe on for x plus silly number of weeks walk away! :-) QUOTE]

Totally agree!

Mine are done every 5 weeks (sometimes 4) during the summer when competing and every 6 weeks in the winter. They are £75 pet set, it is more than some in the area but he does a bl00dy good job and I think he is worth his weight in gold!

Every 8 weeks on the dot through the summer and he gets his shoes off in the winter so just trims during that time oh i pay £60/set and £18/trim. i live near stirling.

My farrier and I have a regular 'date' every Wednesday morning so I can shoe horses exactly when they need them - some may go 6 weeks for fronts and only 4 weeks for hinds, some may have a set every 8 weeks - depends on the individual, and how much work he's doing. A 'normal' set is £65 - and £18 for trims. I have an EXCELLENT farrier!
