This year I have had 1 visit for vaccinations, 1 for colic, 1 when my mare had her foal, 1 general health check the day after I got the mare in foal and her yearling cos they were in such a poor state and 2 visits to check on the mare in foals progress between getting her and the foal being born. In average year I would have one visit for vaccinations and maybe one or two others apart from that
I definitely have the vet out once a year to do vaccs and check teeth, and invariably have him out once more for something minor durign during the year.
Brownhorse, once a year for vacs and that is it. He is never sick or sorry
Nitty, probably four or five as she has her jabs done and then usually needs ABs every quarter or so as she has stupid TB legs and a young immune system coupled with a penchant for mischief!
My boy has only had the vet out for vaccs for the last 5/6 years. Before that maybe vaccs plus a visit for something minor each year or so. He's a tough little horse and is never (touch wood) sick or sorry
it depends how many times my horse decides to do his dying act! in the last year with 2 horses i have seen the vet 4 times, once when my mares eye was swollen, once for jabs and twice when he decided to try and die.
I put monthly, but I've had a bad couple of years.

Arab Mare has foal due in May..... please let that be my only need for the vet next year!!!!
Every 6 months for vaccs. Very infrequently for other things but with 3 colics (Same pony 3 times, surgery at the RVC and still not sorted), one broken knees and an op to remove a tooth growing the wrong way out of the skull this year has been quite a few visits. 14 ponies here atm before this year had hardly had the vet out apart from for vaccs!
