My big mare is shod every 2-3 weeks, every 10 days when hunting
My tb is shod every 6 weeks or so and my pony has his feet trimmed when he needs it - obviously my farrier is out quite regularly so he can trim the pony whenever
I didn't vote in your poll because there was no option for 2 or 3 weeks
7 to 8 weeks, depending on the season.
All unshod.
Summer is far harder on their feet than winter, heat and dry is worse than months of solid ice and snow. All have lived out 24/7 throughout their lives and none have EVER been shod.
Every 6 or 7 weeks. Shoes on front and trimmed at the back. My mare has good feet but she had long toes. New farrier did a fantastic job on them last week. They look loads better.

does she wear the shoes that fast?
[/ QUOTE ]

She once went through a pair of hinds in one days hunting

i bet that gets expensive!
that must be one hello of a horse!
Has your farrier tried everything to get them to last longer? Tungsten weld? Road nails or studs
Every 8 weeks at farriers recommendation. This appears to suit the cob who is shod, but really is not, I feel, enough for my donkeys (who are unshod, but whose hooves grow quite fast) I think 6 weekly would suit.
Incidentally, I always book the next appointment while the farrier is with us. My OH used to just call when needed, which our farrier says used to annoy him, as he didn't know what work he had from day to day like that.
My horse is barefoot. The farrier is booked to trim and re-balance him every 8 weeks but if I've not done sufficient roadwork (twice a week at least) and his feet are starting to get out of balance then I get him sooner.
Every two months - so 8-9 weeks, with my farriers blessing, in fact he said to make the intervals shorter would be a waste of time. I might need to reassess that with the yearling though as his feet are growing more quickly than the mare's.
Howie - 7 weeks a trim. Old boy 6 weeks between being shod. Shadow when I had him used to go 8 weeks. Farrier never ever said anything to me- so I just assumed all was good.
