Just interested........How old where you all when you started to ride, and why??
Love horse? Just like to ride compete? Just love to be with them?

I was 5, mom rode years ago, went with friend who gave up after falling off for the first time and 18 years later i have never been away from them, i now have 3. Couldn't ever think of being away from them.

about 7 or 8.... I dont really know why, I just asked my mum one day if I could have riding lessons, and was most suprised when she said yes. Had a lesson once a fortnight at a riding school where I learnt nothing. Then a couple of years later I started having lessons off a friends relative and it went from there. Got my first horse when I was 13 (still got him 10 years later), and now I couldnt bear to be without them.

Started before I could walk (literally) and only really had a horse-less gap when I was at uni. Think my competing days are over, but just love them and cannot imagine not having them outside the back door

I'm afraid I started late in life !!! I was 27 when I had my first lesson!!! Eek!! I couldn't sit down for a week!

Something I'd always wanted to do, just never had then one day one of my friends found the local riding school and booked me a lesson, I had no say in it!!!

Its the best thing that ever happend to me and I've never looked back! After two years having just the odd lesson at the riding school I joined my local RDA group where I learnt everything from riding, tacking up, general horse care and was able to give something back in return by giving my time to help disabled youngsters ride! I'm still with them and also have a horse on loan who I've had for 18 months - he's 26 and I've brought him back into work after he got evicted from his retirement home!! He's become my best friend!

Can't imagine my life without horses in it now!

I was around horses since I was born as my late grandfather showed and bred shire horses and had a number of light horses. He used to take me out in the carts with the horses for hours on end. I also have a picture of me on his favourite mare (pictures of her in pg) sat on her when I was 2yro. No hat on a shire mare on my own with my grandad holding her, not very bhs but certainly the good ol' days!

I started real lessons when I was aroun 4 I think, got my first pony at 10yro started competing at 13 for a few years. Now at 19 I don't currently compete and have my second pony (3rd if you include one I loaned before hand)

So basicly thats it.

). I started to ride at 4-7, because my mums friend offered us a pony to ride, then had a gap and started again when i was 11, pony club, etc. Rode until i was 16. Now i just have a youngster/broodmare. I've got no confidence to ride competitively anymore.

8. Went to stay with a family friend in the USA, who took me to a ranch where I rode Coco in a western saddle..... I was smitten... came back and asked for lessons, got my first pony at 10, horse at 13...... didnt have a break when went to uni, took him with, took him to year out at Stephen Clarkes.
Dont have any now which is a shame but the costs involved with keeping nags in surrey means I cant...... would love to be involved with someone elses though!

My daughter started riding properly when she was 18months, now she is 2years old she doesnt want me to hold her, so I just lead her at walk. She does alittle trotting. Here is a pic when she was 14 days old.

I don't know why really, but I've always loved horses and after pleading with my parents for years I finally started riding at 13. I had a fabulous cob on loan for a year but he died last christmas.

My sister and I bought a cheapy project pony last year (I was 17 and she was 13) who we rebacked after giving her a couple of months off to 'chill'. She still has her moments but is now starting to go nicely. She's really too small for me though (13hh) so my parents bought me my own for my 18th earlier this year!

My mum started riding about a year after I did and I'm now trying to convince her she's ready for a horse of her own!

I first was on a horse aged about 2. A neighbour had a pony and used to take me up to see it and lead me round on it. She then opened her own riding school and I went there regularly. I think I spent more time on the floor than on the back of a horse, though, as I was a bit over ambitious for a tot!!!

I started when i was about 10. Went to a local riding school-though it wasnt bery good.

It was more a livery yard (they now hold regular comps there and RS is closed) My instuctor was awful, she would spend most the lesson talking to one person whilst we all walked round. When i did finally get to the jumping stage. the would always put me on a pony that if you didnt sit perfectly straight in the saddle it would drop ts shoulder and you would be out the side door. Then after coming off aout 3 times in the lesson as i was on said pony she got very angry and said next time your catching it your self becasue pony didnt want to be caught! Then to top it all off they moved my lesson.

Needles to say i found a better riding school (where i now work on a sunday) Have been there for about 7 years.)
Got my first loan horse in July 04
finaly bought my horse july 06!
