Ok for thoses who didnt read my post, my youngster. Bought him as a 3yr old, my YO says hes 2 to 2 1/2, Me and my livery mates think 18mths to 2yrs, vet says 3 1/2yrs. Piccies of his bum and teeth
He will be 3 this spring, as he appears to have his two central permanent incisors, which he would get after the age of 2 1/2 years old...so must be rising 3 years old.

Well.....I know its bad luck to change names, (it hasnt done my others any harm) but he was called HAROLD!!!!! YUK!!!!! So he is now called Diezel. Hehe
I'm sure you didn't change his name...just added one as a pet name to Harold Diezel....
(Better safe than sorry).
If he's a bit underweight, try feeding ad lib hay and perhaps a bit of speedibeet (good fibre for them, high in calcium too for bone growth) and perhaps a general Vit/Min supplement for a month or two.
He'll keep weight better if you rug him up perhaps more than you would normally (without crispy frying him
)
His mouth is the same as my 2 1/2 yr old (I bred her, and she was born in April 05) if that helps convince you?

Sorry, ad lib is just short for the Latin ad libitum which just means fed without limits...so as much hay as Diezel will eat.
But if you're already feeding him organic haylage he sounds a bit too upmarket for bog standard hay (my herd would be jealous
If you havnt had a dentist out already i would book one and ask them... they will know teeth through and through and will be regularly asked. Also good idea to get them used to dentists sooner rather than later!
Rug him and get a weight gain feed into him.... Winergy equilibrium do one for Youngsters, think its called Growth! and as Shilasdair said, ad lib.... as much as he can eat.... and start giving it in nets as it will last longer and it wont take him long to work out how to get it out, even if you have to pull a few bits through first to show him!
from his teeth i'd say late foal to turn 3 in 2008.
if he needs more weight keep him warm and feed plenty of fibre with enough vits and mins. something like naf GP supp or naf youngstock supp to make sure he gets everything to keep growing.
youngsters who are still growing often go a bit thin during a growth spurt, then fatten out again... so as long as he's healthy and happy i wouldn't worry too much.
I would say he 2 1/2 rising 3. He looks very much like Chancer did at that age, Chancer was born late June and lost his front teeth at 2 1/2. He is not that poor looking - not far off the right weight for a youngster from the photo. Although the tail is short it is not full of foal fluff - he may have been driven - travellers do this from 18 months or younger and trimmed it.
To put weight on, feed plenty of hay. If he has been poor, give him a good general supplement for vits and mins that contains probiotics. Equimins pro-bio and feedmark's benevit are probably the best for the price. Do make sure he is well wormed, equest should clear out everything and you may want to consider worm counts to see how he goes.
Chancer does extremely well on Simple Systems products, or you could feed alfa a lite and some speedi beet - but be careful as to much rich alfa on gypsy cobs causes problems.
am I getting it wrong then?... I thought they lost their front babies at 2 1/2 ish and new ones in fully and in wear at 3 which this chap seems to have.
