A post on facebook made me realise my hacking jacket is about 22 years old, I'm sure there most be many more people who've had there jackets forever, much longer than me, so who has the oldest? To count must still fit and be in use!!!

My hacking jacket was still in use until 2012, and it was 17 years old.

Sadly since 2012 I have not been as physically active, and have out on 3st in weight! So, my new jacket is not so old :-(

My black jacket that I used to wear for hunting and shows is over 30 years old! And I bought it second hand and had it altered. Horseless at the moment but I stil keep it. just in case!
Oh gosh just read the OP and it is not still in regular use, but it could be, still looks fine.

It's tough when you can't do much I was ill just after having a baby 8 years ago and had to have steroids as well as not feeling like doing much and put on about 2st. The jacket really did not fit at my heaviest and I did resort to a bigger one for a bit, but I have finally managed to loose most the weight this year and have hopefully mastered the illness! Hopefully if you can still get out and about in the new jacket the weight will improve if/when you can do more.

I guess half counts then if it still fits!!!

My jacket was my mum's hunt coat.... can't actually remember the last time she hunted but it must be at least 25 years old :D I've just bought a new SJ jacket though so it will be retired... apart from winter I'm sure as it's far warmer than these modern techno jackets :)

Aw, thank you burtie. It is a back/hip injury, and I went from riding 4/5 hrs a day professionally to a stroll about on just one horse at home, and a change to a sedentary job. I did try a run for the first time this week (physio had said no from 2012 to now) and to my disgust I only did around 500 yards, was exhausted and creaky, and ached like mad the day after. I used to do 10K runs, and even triathlon before, and it was quite upsetting just how far I have slipped. Still, the second run seemed a bit better, and not as achy the next day. It was 500 yds goddamit!

I have a Pikeur Diana jacket that is 19 years old but it is now too big but still in immaculate condition. I have replaced with one of the shorter jackets that you can machine wash but I could still wear the old one but it does drown me a bit as it's so long!!

My tweed is nearly 10 years old and made to measure, although I've had it taken in.

My navy I bought second hand, it must be 35 yeats old. Worn every winter for hunting

I've had mine for about 10 years & is still in good nick and regular use. But considering I got it when I was 14 I think 10 years use is pretty good :p

I have a Caldene tweed which is 34 years old, still fits and looks great and a Foxley keepers tweed with is 20 years old also still fits and looks superb.

It's not old at all but it's had a terrible incident with a mouldy carrot.

Has anyone ever experienced mouldy carrot smell and found anything to get rid of it? It's been dry cleaned twice...

Perhaps sprinkle it liberally with Baking Soda and hang outside for a couple of days?

Had my mums black hunting coat. She wore it back in the 60's, but I grew too ''broad'' for it to keep!! My own tweed was second hand in 1995, so who knows. Fits me fine (I think)!! lol

I have 2... my hacking jacket was in use in the early 1980's when I was a teenager, I still use it for in hand showing! My navy hacking jacket is about 12 yrs old & needs updating because I have lost 2 stone since & its too loose!

I bought a Caldene tweed jacket when I was 19 or 20 (fashion then was for tweed jackets and flat caps). I am now 56 and my daughter wears this jacket competing and gets compliments about it. At it's youngest it is 36 years old!

I have a black Pikeur jacket that is probably 12-13yrs old now, it has seen better days but still looks smart enough to wear. I also have my tweed that I got to do my BHS exams, so that would be 17yrs ago?! It sat in the wardrobe for many years, but I have been wearing it at comps for the last year as my black one is a bit snug at the moment.. :wink3:

Have you tried a liberal spray of Febreze?

My black hunting jacket was my mother's so is older than me (I'm 38), fits like a glove. Been wearing it since I was 15 and used to be able to fit a BP underneath it! I've got one hacking jacket I bought second hand about twenty years ago which is a little tight so don't risk wearing it just in case I split it. Have an Alexander James hacking jacket that's about 4 years old and got a Caldene hacking jacket half price in the sales a couple of years ago. Thought it would be better for summer shows as it's a lot lighter than the AJ one. Did have to get a friend to take the arms up by about three inches, though, find they only make clothes for long people these days.

My navy jacket was my mothers, bought for her first job working on a show yard when she was 16. Making it at least 40 years old. It's a beautiful thing - they don't make them like it anymore!

My tweed is far newer, probably about 5 years old. And my hunt coat (mum's is far too precious to risk hunting in) is about a year old. The nicest of them by far is mum's. It fits beautifully.
