How old was your horse when you bought it?

Pippa - as a 10yo from a local lady, who wanted to progress further than Pippa could go.
Milllie - as a 6yo from the meat man
Murphy - as a 11yo from a pro eventer
Colin - as a 3yo from his breeder
Jem - as a 8yo from a local lady who found her too much for her
Harry - as a 6yo from a dealer

Handy was 13 and bought from the sales. Discovered he was with the dealer cause the previous owner found herself overhorsed and had a lot of problems with him. She was going into hospital and didn't have the time to do him justice.

Just off ponies beg of last year and bought......
Unbacked three year old, sent away to local backer for three weeks and daughter picked up from there.
This years unbacked three year old has been with backer for nearly three weeks and we pick him up on Saturday.

first horse was 6yr old free ,that is all to be said about her :) (barking mad)

one i bought as a foal (still have him :) )

one i bought as a 9yr old as friends daughter had simply lost interest (& first horse died so i had been riding her anyway) ,nice enough pony i sold on for a healthy profit after 2 years as said foal turned 3 and i couldn't cope with two at the time so she was a genuine sale
but she wasn't advertised and was bought by a friend who still has her (14yr old now)
i did look through wanted adds for a home for her as i couldn't bring myself to wright an add :o

the one i have now (welshy) i bought as an 8yr old last year, his owner already had 5 kids and had just discovered she was pregnant again so he had to go asap and she took a silly offer, i wasn't even looking for a horse at the time but i liked him :)
turns out he came in handy as my other horse missed all last year through injury so he's kept me happy
i will eventually have to sell him as i just cannot afford to keep two but he is v nice and i don't want to part with him just yet so am hanging on to him until the bailiffs come knocking :o so he will be a genuine sale too

i think there are older horses out there that are being sold through no fault of there own but i would think they would go quickly by word of mouth

Ginger was 10, proved at eventing novice level, bought her as she had been there and done it, she is now 12.

Bought her off my trainer, who had her since 5 & broke her in, for sale as it was doubtful that she would have the scope for intermediate level, they decided to put her in foal but she didn't take, he was also looking a bit big on her.

Apart from the odd quirk (TB chestnut mare ) she is doing the job that I bought her for & I hope to have her for many more years :D

Bought my boy when he was eleven from a dealer as the old owner couldn't ride him as he chucked them off, found that out after I bought him. He's still a bit nutty but I love him <3

First one was 10 when I bought her for £680 out of my savings (I am going back a long time!!) bred 2 foals from her(stud fee £200) who are now 17 & 21. Having bought a 6yo last year who I didn't get on I then had a 9yo given to me on loan last october, by a hunting friend as the horse had no rider and have just bought her (well my OH did for my birthday :) )

My first pony was 16 and he was sold because he was too small for the women who owned him. And my second was 6 and was actually given to me because he was nervous and I uses to work with him before I got given him:)
