I was introduced to horses at the age of five, by my grandfather, who had been a stable lad. They scared the living daylights out of me. So I was 22 when I first rode, for a couple of years, and then 49 when I started to learn to ride properly.
I was about 5, parent let me go as it was ' just a passing phase'!!!!!
My daughter Daisy is 3 and has been having lessons for a year, but has been around my horse since before she was even born
I guess she is lucky to have been born to a horsey mum, as we go out in all weathers, I dred to think to think how she would have got on otherwise, she is totaly obsessed, no pushy parent here
i started when i was 7, i nagged and nagged my mum and it wasnt till we drove past a riding school and i saw horses in there that i made my mum go back and book me a lesson, stuck with it ever since. i used to rent ponys from the school and owned my first pony when i was 11.
Good lord, you are all so lucky! I bought myself my first ever horse for my 30th birthday and hid it at my best mate's stables at her house for 6 weeks before confessing to my husband and putting my own stable up! I am now just turned 32 and have a TB mare who does a bit of everything, hunting, even done a few unaff Nov dressage tests! Also a WB 6yr old who will do all things bar hunting I reckon! I just thought to myself, "got to get on and live the dream, before I'm too old and frightened of pain"! Been having lessons now for about 10 months and can't ever imagine my life without my neddies! Wish I had ridden since a child, I've never ridden a pony or done "round the world". On the upside however, camp is a lot more exciting with lots of vodka I'm sure!
Ten. Didn't get my own until eighteen, but was in America then and couldn't bring him home. Got my own properly when I was forty-four (I think, old age has addled m'brain).
Daughter started at five or six, but wasn't really into it. Had on-off lessons 'till she was eleven, then got Little Cob and hasn't looked back
