Had a few lessons when i was 12 afer years of nagging my dad. Then rode a friend's horse for a couple of years until i got my own whom i had until she died at age 24, i was 23. Then a very long break before my children became interested and i remembered what i was missing. had my horse now for 18mths.

I think I was around 3 when I was plonked on Paddy the pony. I can't remember not being able to ride.
Longest break was nearly 7 years during undergraduate and postgraduate study. It was horrible.

I've been riding since I was 3, got my first pony when I was 5. I'm 15 now and couldn't imagine life without horses!

I'm another oldy who started properly at 40 after watching my daughter have lessons at 5. I read every horsey book under the sun as a 10 - 12 year old with no chance of getting regular lessons never mind my own pony and over the years grabbed the chance to ride if I could. For the last 5 years I have owned my own horse (happy hacker) but I am put to shame by the ability of my daughter who is now 12.

I found out recently that I used to go out into my Nana's paddocks and get myself on the ponies (she had 2 welshies) and just sit there, I was no older than 4

I cannot remember NOT riding, was sent away on a riding holiday when I was 6/7 for a week though!

Started lessons when I was seven, got first horse (shared with sister) when 15, had a two year break when he died, then got another horse to share, 18months later another one, then a driving pony, then a another for sister. Still have the first one of this bunch, 25 years on and three others.:)

Hve been riding since 6/7 I think - got loan pony shortly after.

My boy I have now went out on loan for a couple of years when I had my daughter but I still went and rode him so not too much of a break!!

was plonked on before I could walk....grew up with them but stopped when I went away to boarding school at 10/11 (my Dad died the previous year and MUm couldn't manage horses, farm and 4 kids at the same time so horses got sold)
Started again about 25/26, bought my first horse at 29....last summer bought the house in the country & am in the process of getting the stables built!
