what, in your opinion, is the oldest that you can breed from a mare, if she's had foals before. I know it depends on physical and mental health, but if all is good, and you had a vet to clarify this, what sort of age? Just interested.

I think i'd be wary breeding anything over 16 years old. I know there are plenty of mares breeding well into their 20's without any problems. I'd deffinately consult my vet with an older mare though.
 
So long as she is healthy and not a cripple, then it really doesn't matter. Mares have this cunning habit of telling you when they no longer want to be bred.

Well my mare is around 18 and although wasnt coming into season this summer when I wanted her to has started to come into season again now so when the vet was out to do her jabs last week I spoke to him about it and he said it would be fine to carry on breeding from her as she is fit and well.
