How on earth have I possibly 'acquired' another dog?

We have 3 dogs currently, 11 year lab girl, 8/9 year Staffie girl and a demented 16 month working springer who I an training as a gundog, to pick up. We did have 4 dogs for a while, our rescue boxer had to be pts with a brain tumour a year ago.

I was supposed to be getting a working Golden Retriever puppy last weekend (from a friend, I've known the line of dogs for 20 years and always fancied one, she only breeds every 3 or 4 years just to keep the line going) however this didn't happen as the mating failed.

So, some friends from the other end of the country randomly turned up in our local pub on Sunday afternoon, they were visiting a friend of theirs who had moved house and had no idea we lived nearby. Another mutual friend was there having lunch and messaged us. Great afternoon, pub garden ended up full of various gun dogs and even a horse as word got round and more mutual friends turned up.

They are a gamekeeper and shooting coach and have around 20 dogs give or take a few, mostly Spaniels and Labs and a few large protection dogs. One of their labs who is just the stamp I like, almost identical to my lab, pocket sized, compact and good looking has just has a litter. I've seen this girl work, she is everything I could wish for. Somehow my husband agreed that a pup would be a good idea so we seem to have possibly reserved a dark yellow dog. It will be my job to train him up as a peg dog for husband.

Suggestions please for names, I would prefer something yellow/orange/golden. Probably a plant or animal. So far we've come up with Barley and Bracken. I have yet to even see a photo of the pups, there are 2 dark yellow, 2 pale yellow and 4 black. The dark are both dogs and the others a mixture. Both my girls are spayed so it seems easier to introduce another dog. The spaniel is a good natured soppy creature.

Oh, and just to add to the mix the Golden Retriever is still on the cards if and when they have a litter (probably early 2017). We don't have a holiday booked this summer and have plenty of room and time for another dog.

custard, , mustard, sunset, sika, mouse, toffee, willow, woody, sandy, saffron, spike

You can't have too many dogs - especially labradors! I like Barley. My brother had a yellow dog called Bracken who sort of put me off the name. ;-)

Mind you you don't really want them starting with the same letter, as if I am working two I say their name first and you don't want any confusion when B... comes out.
