How quickly does sucralfate work?

Robin had first dose yesterday about 3pm. He seems happier today. Am I clutching at straws that it could be helping already?

In my experience pretty quickly - I know we were confident it was having an effect by the third day ?

Good, here’s hoping it is not just a “fake” good day.

I think it basically creates a sticky coating over the ulcer which prevents the acid of the stomach from irritating it further. So I think although the ulcers aren’t healed right after taking it they are much less painful. I think the effect lasts around 8hrs, so you might still get the odd time of day when they are a bit off with you still.

It worked virtually overnight with my shetland, massive change in her behaviour!
