How quickly would you expect a saddler to sell your saddle?

Just wondering really... I sent a very nice, barely used jump saddle off to the saddler to be sold. It is reasonably priced, branded, normal fitting saddle. The saddler has had it a year... you’d have thought they’d have managed to sell it by now :(
 
It can take that and more - saddler near here had one of mine, nice little Albion not too much money. I fetched it back after over a year and sold it on ebay
 
A local saddler has sold a few of mine, some sold really quick, another didnt sell, she said she was struggling as it was a wierd fit, I eventually sold it on Ebay and she still has one now that she must have had 18 mths. Tbh I actually forgot she had it until seeing your post!
 
As with others, can take ages ... and you’ve also reminded me that the saddler has two of mine that they still haven’t sold in over 2yrs that I need to collect:o

I’ve had more luck selling privately and have actually sold several whilst the saddler has had those two (had 2 horses and usually a dressage & gp so seem to end up collecting rather large numbers of saddles:rolleyes:)
 
It can take ages. Depending on the agreed commission I would think the saddler will almost always make more from selling their own stock so that isn't much incentive to sell yours
 
There are fashions in saddles and some fits are really hard to come by. I was in my local tack shop yesterday and they had a lot of medium fit saddles. I have sold a couple on ebay, but for not a lot of money. What about Preloved because you can put pictures on?
 
it’s a Albion. Wouldnt be so keen on saddles direct as the saddle is “worth” about £600, I’d be lucky to get £250 from them for it.
 
Mine took about 15 months to sell. Good saddle, standard size, etc.
But, I thought it was worth the wait as I got more than double what saddles direct offered and than what I might have got on eBay. If not desperate I’d wait...
 
Im looking for an albion slk with a high head- saddles direct have one that I tried but its a lot of money for the condition its in, curled up flaps due to spending days on end in a box maybe? I think some still belong to the owners too

Try ebay, I bought that exact saddle there in lovely condition for £300 as it was listed for collection only with no postage option ... then sold it when I was done with it via saddles direct, I got just under £600 and if I remember rightly they sold it for just under £900 :)
 
I took two saddles into my local saddler in 2013. They were both lovely saddles, good makes and in great condition. One sold within about 10 months and I only got the cheque for the other one last week.....!

Believe me, I search everywhere every day at the moment, you were very fortunate!

This, mine was there for nearly a year before I took it back and sold it on Ebay. I thought it would sell quickly too as it was new (won in a competition) sadly didn't fit my horse. The person who bought it got it for half the price of a new one. I don't think he pushed it because when I went to collect it, it was among a pile of other saddles.
