I have been sent abroad for work for a week - alright for some I hear you cry!

It's glorious, the sun is shining, the work is interesting, accommodation nice, the people are lovely oh and my yard has been robbed.

I was a little worried about leaving them as B2 can be a bit funny with other people if they approach him, he once chased PingPongPony round the field ears back and the next time ran away from her shaking despite her being nice to him at all times! Additionally L has not been very well over the last few months with one thing and another but was looking quite good when I left.

I have left them with a fab friend to look after them so I was less worried when I got here. Anyway I sopke to one of the girls yesterday and apparently we have been broken into. Not loads taken, and rather strange selection of items. No one is sure what of mine is missing but PPP tells me L's brand new lightweight has gone.

She's 32 and arthritic, I try to keep her dry so that her joints don't hurt. Additionally she has cushings and liver issues both of which make her prone to being too hot/are made worse by being too hot. The new rug was expensive (to me on my budget) and perfect weight for her but I can't seem to find the same online to have delivered next day to her so I am away, and she is making do with less than perfect stuff.

She is due for PTS Nov 1st if she looks anything less than great as I am not putting her through winter unless she can definitely do it. I can't believe someone has done this to her on potentially her last summer. Poor little old L.

Does anyone know of an affordable no fill but waterproof turn out rug? This was a shires, last years model and it was great, almost fully waterproof but no lining or fill so not hot. It was not actually that expensive in the grand scheme of things but as she may not be here for long replacing it will be a lot to spend given her age. I don't think there is enough of mine missing to warrant an insurance claim but I won't know till I get home!

Ok rant over. Thanks for listening. Sangria for those who got this far (after work obviously!)

I've used the Derby house homebrand one in pony size, although I did use rug proofer first (bit ocd like that). Not sure it will still be around in a decade, but done ok so far. And really sorry about the break in. It's not pleasant anyway, but all the harder if its your oldies stuff.

So sorry to hear about that :(
I use the shires Typhoon or shires Stormcheeta, I've heard the Highlander are pretty good too, they all do no fill. Not massively expensive compared to other rugs either.

Oh SR, that's awful. :(

Don't get the Sunshower - it's showerproof, not waterproof.

What size rug does she need?

She's a 6ft but can wear a size up or down without rubbing or pinching.

As PPP wasn't sure what I left where I don't know how much else of her stuff is missing. I still haven't got an answer if her medication has been pinched but I am sure someone would notice if it had as she is having it daily (hopefully!)

Home at weekend so a trip to tack shop where I bought that one may be in order to see if they have any more or the 'new' version which should be similar. It's just such a pain when I was trying to do nice by getting her something new, she always makes do because of her age so I thought 1 more new thing. Didn't expect to pay out for it twice and as I was offered B2 when not expecting it or he would have gone to sales I am struggling a little at the moment anyway.

Feeling really sorry for myself despite the sunshine.

Thanks for the sympathy and suggestions though.

The amigos are good for the money as you can always pick up last years colours in the sale. Mine had his on during the month of torrential rain and he was always dry under it.

So sorry about the break in, not a nice thing to happen :(

The shires rug that I bought this year (no fill turnout) is exactly the same as last year's. There are often cheap ones on e bay too...

What area are you in? We have some 6' stable rugs doing nothing if thats any help.

Horrible - we had all our tack and rugs stolen a few years ago, so know how awful it is. They took a lot of random things with us too - they have no idea what they are taking - they took cheap nasty leatherwork but left expensive xc boots - they were obviously non-horsey scum who had been told saddles and bridles sell well..

People really are horrid :(. We used a JHL rainsheet for our cushings boy, not really cheap but perfect as he was prone to overheating and it has a mesh liner which made a noticeable difference in keeping him cool over other no fill sheets. Would really recommend it.

So i'm back and i've been to the yard. Yes her rugs are gone. Also they've pinched my pinnacle boots. I'd be upset anyway but I have a knackered leg and these are best boots for it. Additionally my oh bought them for me. First horsey gift he's bought me like a real acceptance on his part that I don't want anything else. I'm afraid I cried. I have replaced old lady's lightweight. Thanku everyone who helped. X
