how sad and shameful

If you were so concerned prior to this, then why didn't you call WHW or BHS?

a number of people did which is why the RSPCA were doing checks and offering her advice. HW were contacted 2yrs ago but the people were told that because the RSPCA were involved they couldn't do anything.

So sad and 45 horses PTS in Wales with another 200 having to be rescued, crazy situation. Don't understand how one person ends up with over 200 horses they are obviously not in a position to look after.

Not sure what your saying rubbish too but I also know that is RSPCA are dealing with a case the WHW cannot intervene.

WHW don't take prosecutions. However they and the RSPCA often work very very closely together during cases. It's a complete myth that WHW cannot get involved where the RSPCA are.

You just cant help but put your point over in a knarly smart arsed way, so the person was given some wrong information, can you not just say that

Moomin was not rude or smart arsed in her reply as I read it. Just stating a fact, nothing that deserved your reply.

There's only so much people can do in this situation and that's report it, which OP claims was done.. There's not much else she/he can do really regardless of what she/he was told...

RSCPA should have acted sooner if it was reported but as per nothing was done.

It's a shame for the poor horses that suffered and I will never understand the 'punishment' that's dished out! Hardly a punishment at all..

I Agree with you

Agree, as for RSPCA .... 'we offer advice' what a joke, why didnt they do something sooner, that poor horses spine can be clearly seen through its rug, it hasnt got like that overnight.:mad:

Exactly Amymay, its quite ludicrous that horses known to be in danger of neglect are just left to die by the RSPCA, makes you wonder exactly what their agenda is........

Things are very different to when worked in the welfare area .
I worked with loads of different organisation I never hesitated to take a different approach to the one another charity was taking if I thought it was a better way.
WHW may have chosen not to attend because they knew the RSPCA was dealing with it to save time and money and duplication of effort when everyone is stretched.
But they certainly could attend if they wanted to.

Yep, monitoring is not much use really if the end result is death......

I agree it when the new welfare act which was supposed to stop you needing the animal to be in a really extreme state before you could act is not working .
Not involved now so don't know any of the recent case law for how it's panning out
But on the basis of this case it appears not well.
A five year ban is terrible ,unless there's a mitigating circumstance that should have been a life ban IMO.
