ok so i drive along and approach a speed bump. and pretend that i am jumping it as i would on a horse:o. i pretend i am racing when on the motorway:o and i even drive past obstacles on the side of the road and think 'yes my horse would shy at that' and plan how i would tackle it. im such a looooooooooser haha:D anyone else find themselves doing things only a horse owner would do?

sometimes i'll be in the car and see a mahoosive combine harvester or similar and think "well i'm glad i'm not on my horse!"
or see a huge log and run through in my head all the ways my horse could REFUSE to jump it :D

Ha ha...me too!

Only when i'm a passenger though, when my brain wanders...not that theres much upstairs though...!

I see fields and hedges as we pass...and imagine me horse popping over them all....and yeah....even lorries waiting to turn etc!

Nuts!

When I used to cycle I would go in jump position if I went up/ down a curb.

When driving I pick out field that would be good for a gallop. :o

You reckon that's sad? I have an aversion to crisp packets and have to knot them if they're lying on the table, also not keen on carrier bags, bins (blue ones), skips and donkeys, but only since spending lots of time with a certain welsh mare...

And I can't drive alongside a grassy verge without wondering if it would be suitable for a canter!

I see a stride into kerbs and cracks on the pavement as I walk. Didn't realise it was so obvious till I was walking with my OH and he remarked, 'That was a long one' as I tackled a particularly tricky kerb, White line, kerb, crack combination!

haha! that's exactly what I do! all the time, and I completely can't help it. My friend's have all started to notice and one of them pointed out (on the way back from an evening out in rather high heels) as I tried to tackle one of said kerb-combi's "whooops, haven't got your eye in tonight have you?! Best get some fluff to sort it..." He isn't even horsey...just tags along to the odd show :p
I also pick what fields would be good for a gallop, what fences/hedges I'd jump etc

Oh yes, i even "trotted" to the dog poo bin with my labrador this morning - in full view of the kids waiting for the bus, much to my daughter's embarrassment!

I spend most of my dog walks assessing how good each field would be as a paddock........ I'd love my own paddocks!

I love to do this. You will often see me slightly shuffle as I chip in a short one!

Im one of the folk who see a large field and think oh that would be great for galloping in  But im usually to busy paying attention to crazy drivers not paying attention to were there driving ;)

There is one large building that I ride past that has very good windows for checking you and your horse out in when you ride past (come up, I'm sure you all do the same ;)) so obviously I always like the horses working nicely when I'm going past it to see what we actually look like!

Whenever I drive past it I have to remind myself my car never will "go on the bit" so there is no point trying..... however much a squeeze my calves my car always looks the same

I say thank you to every driver that passes me instinctively. I have to consciously tell myself not to thank cars as I walk down the pavement :o

I pick out fields for a gallop

I pick out fields to buy and build my huge equestrian complex on ;)

Need I go on? :D

J&C

i jump shadows (mentally) on the road. i even think how many strides i will get in between them and count myself in.
i jump zebra crossing and cracs in pavements and i also look out for fences that would be sutable to jump - no matter how high they are! i always think of my approach to them as if i was at badminton - taking the shortest, safest line!

I used to canter home from school :o and when I'm walking the dog I often see jumps etc and wish my horse was hackable. I generally watch the road when I'm driving tho ;)

I m not sure if it counts but i am really busy with my business and i dont get much time to myself...... but i was there in the rain this morning at 6 o clock scratching my horses bum for him.?:confused:

when ever i see someone some riding - be on tv or live i ride that horse lol ok in my head its cool and its perfect - pmsl but i cant ride in front of anyone pmsl

i notice nice post & rail fencing & comment on it - even to passengers [mostly my teenage daughter] who really have no interest:rolleyes:
i recenlty went on a training course [ trauma & its effects on child brain development] & & was truly excited that there was a field of mares & foals next door -so excited that i mentioned it on the evaluation form:)

Hahaha that did make me laugh! I "shy" at lorries/tractors/any machinery even though my current horse is brilliant with them, my old horse unfortunatley wasnt :p

Sister and I always 'jump' the expansion joints on the road over the motorway, because the horses did one day :D I also have a horror of double decker buses on narrow roads when I am in the car, because the old Appy would have turned tail and run away at the sight of them  (The current Appy couldn't care less :) )

My car is a legend at Shoulder in - merging into traffic in motorway, Leg yielding after overtaking, also half pass if we have to get back in quick!

I once taught a pupil who was having a terrible time getting jumping position correct the correct fold when we went over a speed bump - no problem after that!

I used to practise rising trot on my bicycle when I was a kid - I had baler twine reins on the handle bars, and we always jumped ditches.

I apologise to my washing machine when I put stinky rugs and horse towels in it and praise my car when it gets me to the petrol staion when its been running on e for ever!

Do I count as 'sad'?

My sad little quirk is when i'm in a room full of people I have to count them several times, even if there was only 5 people I would have to count them in order of age. Also I have to spell out random words I hear and imagine writing them in places they fit, say for example a 5 letter word i'd have to write it on the wall each letter on a flower on my wallpaper.

I play how many non jumping strides to pretty much anything in my path whilst walking......then stride it to see if I am right.

When I was a little kid I ran an imaginary riding school out of our garage. All the ponies had names and characters....some lazy, some buckers, some good jumpers.

I click at the car when it is struggling up a hill. Once doing this with a car full of academics one commented "god to you relate to everything like it's a horse" and I replied "it's when I start screaming whow at it you have got to worry!"

I used to name all my cars "Trigger" too.

Do I make the grade?

I make up "car strides" and count them up to slow signs, its especially fun if the car stands off a slow sign or if there is a related distance or combination of a few, oh....and you know those triangle/arrow things you get...Triple brushes....OBVS!

I always comment on the 'lovely post and rail fencing' to people too, get some funny looks lol.

Ive been in a parked car and seen a car transporter coming up in the rear view mirror and rushed to gather up my reins and been completely baffled for a moment at there being a wheel in front of me :o

Also, slowing a car down with your seat is a no-go :D

oh, and on a train, I jump the hedges in the fields along the route ;)

ME ME MEEEEEEEE.
Before I got my own horse I'd be cycling in the jumping position ;)
Aaaand, used to sit on the stair rail praciticing my position!
Also used to set up little jumps in the garden and 'canter' round in a nice uphill motion :o

I'm not sad or anything ;)
