how sad

Aw poor little thing, he really looks like a sweetie. Some people are just cruel.
I agree with THE_carthorse, try emailing her to promt her to try a rehoming/rescue centre.

isn't this the horse anotehr forum clubbed together to buy? presumably they didn't get him, oor old fella I just wish I had some money and fields to use for retired horses

If I had room/time I would end up buying all these poor horses. Im a sucker when it comes to things like this

The sad thing about this advert though, assuming these pictures are recent, is that the horse looks in good condition body wise. Obviously not knowing much about the long term care of tendon problems in elderly horses I cannot comment on how easy or not so easy it would be to keep this lad as pain free as possible in the foreseeable future. If someone with the right knowledge and who has suitable grazing/stables were to offer this lad a home it would be fantastic as he does not look anywhere near ready for a bullet or injection based on the pictures used.
My main concern would be on him finding a suitable home and not ending up in a meat wagon, surely he deserves so much more and he also has such a sweet face he is to die for.
Has this lady not tried contacting any local horse charities to see if they would be willing to take him on?
Very sad though all the same, and is the reason I no longer look through horsemart and horses for sale websites these days because of the chance of seeing horses like this and on a personal level not having the means to do anything to help them

At 24 she should make the sensible decision to have him pts. Giving him to a charity is not reasonable imo as he should not be a rescue case, his owner has the responsibility to deal with the situation in the horses best interests, if we buy them we should be prepared to make the end as good as possible.

I should email her and tell her what happened to Bailey when I sold him on as a companion!

Highly likely that someone will do the same with this horse and put him through the sales for profit without a second thought to the horse's welfare.

If I could have my time over again I'd have had Bailey PTS, even though he was only 9. He shouldn't be being ridden and I have no idea where he is or if anyone who attempts to ride him is safe. I feel so responsible for that. My naivety could cost someone far more than hearbreak if they try to "fix him".

Dodge tendon shouldn't need medication .Just as long as he is not worked he will probably be fine.

you're not making my arguement any easier carthorse..

Exactly why I won't sell my horse with a "dodgy tendon". Poor chap, I wonder why some people think they can have horses and not have to, one day, deal with the possible situation of having to decide to PTS...

This seller should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves - they are obviously trying to offload this horse rather than spend the money on PTS. If he is lucky he will end up being bought and taken to Potters for a quick profit - if he is unlucky - well it doesn't bear thinking about.

Young newfies are impressionable and need keeping in line - I can think of no better candidate for the job than this old chap

This horse was bought by Saddle Up members and is now living at EMW Shropshire.

Thats good! The old fella looked like such a gent. Hope he lives out his retirement happily!

Don't tempt me this is the next town to me...

I know from the oldies I have here moving them at that age is so miserable for them.
If she doesn't want him he's better off pts.
I would far rather see a horse euthanised than offered for £100.
I hope he gets offered a home as a companion but think it's unlikely, he's more likely to be bought then sold to Potters.
