How Sad :(

That's very sad broken at 2 1/2 years old and people wonder why horses break down!!! Those poor immature joints and the rider is no lightweight either. Why get a youngster if you haven't the patience to let it mature; mind you these are dealers.

It's a solid looking cob who looks mature physically. I don't see a problem with putting the groundwork in at 2 1/2, could probably do with a bit of time to chill at some point but it sounds like he isn't doing much work with it, 10 mins a day, so whoever buys can try it and know if it's suitable, the horse is far less likely to get passed about or mistreated.

Not all horses are the same, this little mature cob will be fine at this age.

OP I can only assume that
a) this is your ad and you are trying to draw attention to it, or
b) that you have reproduced and commented negatively on an issue which you have an opinion on that many people would disagree with, without the advert owners permission.

But it's not groundwork if his being walked, trotted, cantered and jumped.
And no he isn't mine, Yes people may dissagree, but others will agree with me.
I guess this is one of them subjects were we will have to agree to dissagree and its just down to personal prefrence. But personally I don't think a 2 YO should be ridden.

To be fair the advert does say that he is ridden by a 13 yo for ten minutes every other day, hardly a huge workload, it also sounds as if he has been backed in December and brought on slowly if you are to believe the advert, "requires a loving home where he will be brought on very slowly & correctly & given time to mature with a knowledgeable family ......"
I'm sure there are plenty of folks who back horses at two and then turn away.

When you see some of the horses backed and ridden/driven hard at eighteen months or less it is much worse!

My boss used to send all his horse to be broken in at 18months old, because the man who lived down the road who broke them in said "you break horses while they are young and weak"
Within a few weeks of them going there they were hacking out. Obviousley I had no say in the matter!
