Sorry another weight thread !! but not 'am I too heavy' - i know the answer is currently yes !!. My daughters pony could do with more work than she is up to I am lunging and long reining him but would ideally like to be able to do a bit of ridden work with him. He is 13.2 welsh x ?trad cob but is not that chunky, prob more middle weight - what sort of weight does anyone think he would be ok with ? ( am talking 15-20 mins not 2 hour hacks ) then I have an idea how much to lose ! am only 5'4 but have had much bigger horses myself. thanks !

too much to ride him now ! about 12 st ish but would like to be nearer 10. this is a question for the future rather than now. I would flatten him !

When i was riding my Sons 12.3/13hh chunky pony i was about 9st 9lbs ... i`m 5' 4" too, and she managed fine with me :)

My daughter is ten stone 3ish... She's taller than you but I am sure pony in question would carry her just fine, esp if it is only twenty mins!
Good luck with your weight loss... If it doesn't go to plan get a bigger pony!! ;-)

Depends on conformation, bone and how much extra weight he's already carrying himself - keep in mind that every extra kg on him is basically a kg of rider he shouldn't be carrying!

If you have the facilities to weigh him the maximum he should carry is generally considered to be around 20% of his weight, assuming he is well put together, fit and not carrying extra weight.
