looking way (way way way way)into the future, only being 5 foot 1 and havin no chance of growin, and 8.5 stone, if i was looking for a fun pony for doin sponsered rides on and some showing, general fun how small a pony could i go?? and when i'm sayin pony i mean just ur good old chunky pony. as u all kno i love ponies!! and hope to always hav them instead of horses lol!!!

Hmm, this is one o0f those hoow long is a piece of string questions... Personally I wouldnt go for anything much smaller than 14H;, as you may struggle to get tack that is comfy for the both of you, particularly considering the long distance rides, plus you may find anything less than 14hh will have that "no neck" feeling! My Mum is your height & is a perfect fit on our 14hher (she also does pleasure rides.)

If I was you - I'd get a welsh sec D!!! They are fab!!!

I think you'd get away with a 13.2, but you don't want something too little.

A chunky little 13hh would take you easily, over hill and dale. Why don't you get out and ride some different sizes and shapes and work it out for yourself? I know several little ladies very happy riding smaller ponies, with no problems regarding tack or anything else. Find out what you want for yourself, don't let other people tell you.

god im 5,4 and ride a 12hh ish pony but i have got silly short legs (only on short hacks lol) but shes happy with me lol i wouldn't for fun rides though and alot of work. My mates about 5,2 and has just bought herself a loverly newforest x welsh 13.1hh and she fits him perfect with room to spare lol some cobs feel bigger than other horses because of how wide they are so try out different breeds and heights they all feel different i thought i would be too big for the 12hh ish pony but apperently i don't look too big and i don't weigh her down so have a play around lol

and with a Welsh D,you could do GP dressage

Seriously i agree that you should try some different ones between 13 and 14hh and get someone to video you so you can see how you look- this worked for my OH who had to be convinced thaty a 17.2 was way too big when a chunky 16hh suited him so well!

Something around 14 hands should do it comfortably, and if you get on that is pure bred and moves nicely you will find that M&M showing can be just as cut throat as any other discipline, and just as addictive

Any M&M pony would do the job.

I'd suggest a New Forest or Connemara as most would be upto your weight, it just depends whether you feel ungainly on anything less than 13.2hh

a sec c, they go up to 13.2hh max height, but are chunky and solid, will turn a hoof to anything, and come in smaller versions as well!
