How soon can I put horses back in field after topping the grass

Hi all, as per title really. I am going to top my field tonight and wonder is it safe to turn horses out tomorrow, or should i wait a few days/weeks so the grass has gone to hay?

rack it up or wait until it is competly dead coz if they eat the fresh toppings it could give them colic!

Mine went out straight after with muzzles on, also depending on the topper used, it usually mulches the toppings.
