So after crowing that littlest Stafford has cracked the whole training, out big boy hacking we had setbacks last time. Could not keep her focused on me which meant constant legging off after things in the woods. Granted she stayed with us but her crashing around and me shouting for her understandably upset new baby horse. Cue one grounded dog. Tried again on foot. Perfect again.
So out today with good friend who has a well behaved dog out hacking. Off we go, armed with bribes and on board our horses.
In oh about 3 minutes, it was very nicely pointed out that merely shouting my dogs name was completely irrelevant if I don't actually give her any command with it.! DOH!!
SUffice to say, littlest stafford was quickly back on track, picked up " move" and "heel" today and we ended having a fantastic very long hack. One surreal moment saw my friend and I cantering side by side with littlest staffie keeping up so three abreast and her dog behind.
But dear god, how blonde am I!!!
