How the Mighty Fall

Don't think it's that sad- they're offering him for loan as well as sale and saying homes will be vetted. Could be a fantastic opportunity for a talented rider.

Would have thought they'd have put a more decent flatwork pic than that though!

I would wager this isn't a horse for a talented rider to compete.
I would put money on this horse just needing a bit of TLC and a quiter life.

OMG stop me - he's not far from me and looks perfect for rebuilding my confidence.

Someone help! Stop me.

I could event with my sister and no one would know how scared I am!

Someone help! Stop me.

I think you should have a look at him. Chances are, he won't be what you're wanting anyway. :D

(caveat: my horse was found in an ad that was put up when I wasn't horse-hunting, but my mum and I decided to have a wee look, as the horse was close by, but probably not what I really wanted anyway. Except she was. Oops).

Yes, you're probably right. Depends how much mileage he's had (I'm guessing a lot) I suppose and how fit and sound he is. He might be okay to do some unaffil stuff or even something like a BE80 for someone. Bless him.

I hope he finds a good home anyway

I already have 1 I didn't expect as he was not for sale when I fell for him - owner let me buy him 7 months later and an oldie to live out her days with me, so I really shouldn't . . .

aaargh

What is wrong with me? Spent all Feb planning and sorting my downsizing of horse numbers and literally had picked up the phone here. Honestly I'm going to end up as a horse-collecting divorcee living in a house with 100 cats and no electricity.

Mind you, in my experience these schoolmasters aren't always the easiest and although he is screaming BE80, BE80 to me (my absolute top ambition now) I suspect there is no guarantee! I've seen plenty of 'Grade B' showjumpers stop unaffiliated with novices.

Really really hope he gets somebody nice though.

I suspect this horse will not be the one to start your eventing career spotsrock.

I only want to do local stuff and maybe BE80/90s I don't have high ambitions and will be doing the baby thing myself in a couple of years, I just lost my bottle jumping all of a sudden. I'm probably not the best home for him tbh - I already have my B1 and B2

I, for one am shocked - totally shocked !!!

amymay !! fluffy !! .........

we need more evidence !!!

It's my experiance that those who give the least fluffy advice are often the most fluffy when you scratch the surface .
Those who are very fluffy in their outward persona often have a hide like a rHino when you scratch the surface.

Amymay - think you are in for a good scratch :D:D

Don't see the problem with the ad - doesn' sound like they're going to give/sell to just anyone. Not sure about the need to name drop though? Owned by Andrew Nicholson? So? When? When it was 2/3/4. Never quite sure why people bother with saying stuff like that - it's either a decent schoolmaster or it isn't. Just because someone well known in the horses world owned/rode it once doesn't mean anything!
