See where the "coffin" name comes from! I like the way the rider was hauled out of the ditch and got back on to jump it successfully. There were some pretty classy horses on that film, and some good performances.

Don't think the headgear would get tagged nowadays!

Also interesting that most had no martingales or breastplates, and few horses had leg boots.

Just watched Part 2 and that was horrid. Nearly all the horses fell in the water, despite jumping in well, I suppose it was just too deep, so that was very unfair to punish the horses' bravery and obidence. There were some heroic recoveries by the riders, but virtually all the horses got water in their ears.

The rider towards the end got it completely right, and even pulled up the horse to let it come slowly out of the water. I wonder if he was Hungarian?

& that is exactly why you sit back & slip your reins when jumping downhill !

Was v.interesting to watch how different it was, I also noticed no-one had boots, martingale or breastplate & a few had racing bits in
