Hi, I’m really struggling to get my new mare to accept any kind of leg contact.. as soon as I put my lower leg even slightly on she instantly overreacts! Any suggestions please?!?

I would check her for ulcers, stomach and hindgut.

What's her history and how does she overreact?

Sometimes with a sensitive horse it's best to put your leg very lightly against their side and keep it there. When you try to keep it off to avoid a reaction all that happens is they have a shock when you do use it and so you get a big reaction to even a small aid. As a general rule with a forward or sensitive horse keep your leg there all the time, with a lazy or behind the leg one then keep your leg of fso any use gets a sharper response. Sadly people often get this back to front.
