I honestly have no idea which attachment is needed to attach the gopro to my helmet, I thought just a head strap but now I'm thinking is that secure enough. Any advice would really help thanks.

I've got one of the elasticated helmet straps and it's really secure - there are bands of silicon running around the inside of the strap to give it a little extra grip.
It's only come off twice. Once when I fell and it came straight off, rather than potentially damaging the helmet if it was glued. The second time the horse took off doing a rodeo impression and it got pinged off (as did I shortly after
).
However, it does affect how the my hat sits (pulls it forwards) and isn't the most comfortable so I've just bought one of the 'bullet' style ones that can go above your ear. Something to bear in mind

I would go with the straps as you want it to come off if you fall, it's safer for your head

Strap all the way, from personal experience I can tell you glueing it on is a bad idea.
