Hi
Please could some one advise me on what GCSE grades and A level's I would need to take to become a vet.
Also how much work experience do I need?
Thanks.

you need 5 A's at gcse. 4 of which have to be in maths, english and normally chemistry and biology. You need 5A's at a level in maths , biology, chemistry and 2 others.

this is what is needed to get in to the royal vetinary school london =)

My daughter got into RVC with 3 As at A level, not 5. Her insurance choice was Liverpool with AAB. Her friend got into Nottingham with less than that though I can't remember what it was.

Although grades matter, it's not the main criterion. RVC and Cambridge for example also require the BMAT exam. But most important is masses of relevant work experience, the right attitude, a well rounded personality and how you come across at interview. The personal statement also matters to get you to the interview stage, but more so at some unis than others.

My daughter was late getting her work experience, as she didn't have a veterinary career mapped out from birth, she was in year 12 before she decided - but that's unusual. Getting work experience from year 10 or before is definitely the way to start.
