So my mare has been out of work for two weeks now due to me falling off and breaking my elbow it is now healing nicely and time to get back in saddle. however even though my mare has been turned out 24/7 she is extreamly hyper squealing galloping and just really on her toes although she may be in season too that can make her a bit loopy. on weds eve i decided to lunge her and she was extreamly full of beams and did alot of bucking snorting high tail etc but after about half an hour seemed to be working better which i thought great by sat i should be able to get on. however my friend sent me a text yesterday to say be careful if i was goinging to ride as she was being extreamly hyper in the morning yes the morning after her lunging session. really confused now as how to get the energy out of her any ideas? she was doing fantastic before my fall too no napping or anything was a complete push button ride now shes like a two yr old thats
Ate skittles for two weeks straight

My mare gets like this, luckily for me though it takes about two months of no work for her to be problem like you are describing.
I recently had this as she was out fo work for 4 months due to being diagniosed with ringbone and being lame. Vet said to lightly hack her only when back in work but so far this has not been the case, it didn't help her hyperness!

Although my mare can be like this on the ground she is generally "ok" when ridden, bit flighty but no bucking/rearing/bolting so I just normally have tor ide through it.

Mayb lunge berofre you ride, and just bring her back into as much work as you can.
Giving some kind of calmer could be an idea especially with you having a broken elbow?

Is she on any other feed other than grass? If so, cut it out - COMPLETELY! Sounds like the grass is going to her head a little - try her on a magresium supplement - in a SMALL HANDFULL of unmollassed chaff. and ideally restrict her grass intake to bring her sugar levels back down to more managable levels. keep up with the regular exercise (lunging) until she chills out.

Her grazing would be restricted she is turned out in a farm lane so not as much grass as she would get in a field. i have been giving her supplement angnus castus with magnesium powder mixed in a handful of 10% made mussy with water once a day. but apart from that just grass and hedge as she seems to eat it alot!

My horse is like this, it usually takes 3 days of lunging before he calms. I would keep lunging her until you feel ready to get back on.

Just because she is playing on the lunge doen't mean she will do all that messing around under saddle. Work her well before you get on and don't take any nonsense.
