Mysti always kept herself fairly fit until the last year since her laminitis she has been in much more so has lost a lot of muscle.

Heres a picture taken in the past week ** please don't move i need a picture to demonstrate!!! **

She has a pretty obvious dip in front of her withers which needs to go and any muscle built around her back/stifle is good as she has a slipping stifle.
I can only really lunge so have been lunging her but it's a bit difficult to use sidereins etc as she can't wear a bit. She goes out for a couple of hours and has a good gallop around and then trots her way between the bits of the field she wants to eat in but most of the time she is in. Can't leave her hay on the floor as she hoovers it up too quickly then so I'm a bit stuck!
I know it doesn't really matter that she's unfit, but I'm trying to keep the risk of lami down and getting her as fit as possible seems the next step :)
Thanks any advice is appreciated!

LL - nope, tried that .. Scariest thing in the world aparently. She's very strong and won't go out alone and I have nothing to ride  I'm a bit stuck really to what I can do in a field/stable with her.
Competitiondiva - will have a look at that thanks :)

continue lunging, maybe loose schooling, and you could take her for long in hand walks too ?? I love taking the boy and the terrier on those when I'm not riding xx

How bout using a dually both to ride in and lunge? I've used mine to school, hack and jump my 17.2 (strong!) boy when he was unable to wear a bit but needing work.

I also lunged him in side reins with it - he works well in it, in a lovely outline, through the back so it helped with his topline. Might be worth a try for you.
