I'm quite a novice when it comes to riding. I've only been to a few lessons but REALLY want to start cantering. Apparently the horse I ride has a lovely canter. Any tips?

You definitely need to wait for the instructor to decided when you are ready to canter. Although it is smoother than the trot when you can sit to it, if you are inexperienced it is horrible! I would say work on balance and rising in trot and get a well developed seat so as when you do eventually canter you're more likely to be comfortable if you are stable and can attempt to sit central during it.

Listen to your instructor & do what he/she says during your lessons. When they think you are ready they will tell you. It's good to be keen but some things cannot be hurried. :)
