I'm sure you've all come across people like this, but how do you deal with them?

There's a few of them on my yard and tbh i'm getting a bit sick of them. They ignore you, laugh and whisper when you go past, stand in a little group and watch and giggle when you ride etc. It's not just me they do it to, it's every person who's not in their little clique, but it's sooo annoying and just plain rude

How on earth do you deal and put up with these people???

Do what I once did as you walk pass them, just glance at 2 of them and give a quiet smurk, do it every so often and they wonder what the hell is going on. Do it just after they've ridden or something else:D:D:D:D:cool::cool::cool:

That's why iv got a yard with my mate, had enough off livery yards. Iv got a few ideas but you would get arrested no doubt so I shall stay quite.

god, they are the worst in their little cliques! grrrrrrr
make their lives misery muahahaa....
no, i would just perserve, karma will come your way! OR have a smart comeback for their ill thought of snidy comments ;)
OR just put them in their place in front of their other followers like prove them wrong and humilation tends to help with that......
god i feel evil! :p;)

just drop your things on the floor walk up to them grab them by the collar stick your head up against theirs, grit your teeth and say 'wanna take this outside?'......

haha no seriously :D.... just ignore them, they sound like a bunch of immature school girls who just cant live their lives without putting a downer on others. just smile and wave is the word. :P

Could you quietly mention to your yard owner that they are making you uncomfortable and you would think about moving if it continued? I would be really angry if some of my liveries were bullying others - and they would be told to be nicer on the yard...

Alternatively just find some nice people at the yard to hang out with - these are def. not worth the bother, and must be jealous for some reason...

PS I wouldn't say someone had complained - Id say I'd noticed bullying...

Have my own place so luckily don;t have to deal with this on a daily basis, but we have encountered some at shows who look down their noses at us because we don't talk with plums in our mouths, nor have a horsebox that costs six figures. As they usually have show type ponies, we never get to compete with them, but my daughter and her friends just love playing up to them, by being all "chavvy" and common. And the more they look down their noses, the louder and more outrageous she gets! "Dahling";)

I like the "run them over then reverse" suggestion....

You could always go up to them and ask them if they could explain the difference between getting your horse on the forehand and getting it to move off the osonopholly. Explain that you know they are experts so want their "expert" opinion.

Now, bearing in mind, "osonopholly" is a word I have just made up, the reply should be interesting!

Argh!! With you on this one - I had so much trouble with people on my yard, accusing me of stealing, bitching and even repeatedly hitting my part loan pony - to the extent I nearly gave my part loan up and moved off, none of it was true and the more mature people on the yard knew it! At one point I wouldn't go to the farm alone and I'd go when I knew they wouldn't be there.
However, slowly they got found out and their little bitchy group got broken up as they turned on each other - hence I am still on that yard 8 years later and not one of the original moos is still around :)
If it's not possible to avoid (I got it from them at school as well), try being really sweet - say hi, ask how (horse) is doing, good, see you later :) that'll really p!ss them off!! As well as confuse them - as for riding, tell the YO they are really making you feel uncomfortable - she may well tell them to stay away from the school unless they are riding or have the permission off the riders to spectate.

Love this!!! And it DOES work ;) tried and tested - make up a word and see their reply!!!

ignore them and laugh - enjoy winding them up
i needed a lesson on lunge yesterday -( so i could get to grips with my diagonals) and one younger livery loved it (im 40 plus)
My yard bitch nearly broke her neck rubber necking - let her!!!!!
Let them laugh, i know im going at my and my horses pace - i refuse to put my horse in danger, i want to learn to ride him so he is comfortable and i am - remember the hare and the tortoise story - let them bitch and giggle, hold your head high and do what you think is right xxxx

Been there, seen that, got the t shirt and left the yard because of it. I woud recommend talking to your YO over those nasty litte bitches. A YO I really liked and respected once said to me 'You have horses for enjoyment, and they cost you a lot of money, so if you are not enjoying it, sort it!' Seriously though, we had a couple of nasty bitches join our yard last year and they did nothing but cause unrest. We all went to our YO and told her it was them or us. She promptly gave them notice, as it was either lose 7 full liveries or two DIYs. Good luck, I know how vile it can be.

I love all these comments. :)

What i try to remind myself is that people can only look down thier nose at you if you allow them, if you hold your head high, are a proud and positive person, then they can only "try" to upset you. Hold your head higher than thiers, but do not stoop to thier level ( contradiciton, i know).

You are stonger than this.

Pity them, they cannot function without thier clique, poor dears.

Hold your head high, know you are above all this.

Life is too short. :):)

Have a conversation with them then go over to someone else on the yard and speak to them occasionally glancing at b****, everytime you walk past glance and smile to youself, walk over and say ' I'm sorry but I want to know if its true ... in fact no it doesn't matter' walk away :p

This is exactly why weve just rented a field on our own again!! The yo is ok with her own horses but i can see her causing a disaster with the rest as she doesnt know them and refuses to listen to the owners. One filly is now covered in lumps and bumps becase the owners said dont put her in with this one mare as they dont get on, as soon as she was alone what did she do? Then she wanted to put my baby in with the one who kicked her! This yard has only been open 9 months, 4 people have left, now we are going asap! Yo is forever changing her mind, she said our horses (we have 5) could live in three paddocks along with one other, and to rotate them as we saw fit, no way, shes moved our almost blind horse more than any other horse on the yard, often leaving him without showing him where the water is or leaving them without all together, weve had more sleepless nights on this yard in a few months than we have in 30 years anywhere else!! My daughters gelding was mounting one of the mares, so what hasthis all knowing idiot done? Put him a field with three other mares!! It really should be compulsery for anyone runnung a livery yard or riding school to have bhs or similar qualifications.
